Think map was great until I realised you can't zoom in more than 100%. Which means that the smaller islands dont really stand out :/

Most likely a quick one: If I add my custom PNG map as one, big solid picture like in the tutorial, for me the area of the map does not move along with the camera path. So it is always showing the same part of the map during the trip. How do I get the camera movement linked to the map so I am actually moving across the png map?

On the Lush Green map, after 2 Legs of Airplane, and the 3rd Leg for a Car I ran into an issue where I could not edit the motion path of the Car. I was able to select and edit the start/end point in the "Element Selector - Vehicle Layers" composition, but after following instructions to copy it over into my own composition it was not editable.

This is a great template. How you do change the position of the page zoom for the intro comps? For example, it currently cuts off the area where I added highlighting.

I can't get it to work. The first line returns "object of type layer found where a property is needed" - don't really see, why a layer can't be assignable to a variable...

Just spent two night trying to learn another way of mapping...gave up. I'm seeing a lot of comments mentioning this tutorial isn't that great. Here I go again! Have a bad feeling about this. AE gods smile upon me. At least I'll learn something.

To save people time, you should provide a quicker overview video that goes through the most important settings to change to get a complete travel animation between 2 locations. Make it a goal to have someone open your template and within 5 mins have a basic animation ready. Then, if they want further customizations, they go to this series to understand how the rest of the settings work (which are great, but far less important to getting the animation quickly). EDIT: For example, I think 9:40 - 11:30 will get someone 80% of the way to a basic travel animation.

I followed this tutorial, but my car isn't following my path. I did it twice bc the first time, the layers got completely stuck. I am an absolute beginner to AE, but please post an updated version of this tutorial and include all the shortcuts and steps bc every 2 sec I have to stop to google how to do this or find that. But even after 2 days of trying to get a 5 sec animation work, I don't want to give up bc it looks so nice. Thank you so much!

Hi, I have a question. I watched the video and tried copying it (about more than 10 legs). but it doesn't work properly. In part 2, all paths in part 1 disappear except last path, how can I solve this problem? I wanna show all of paths, more than 30 in one scene.

Thank you for the amazing template. First issue : I watched your video that explains how to add more than 10 legs but is it possible to keep the legs from part 1 displayed on part 2 ? Because when I follow your tutorial it's like beginning form scratch again and just joining the two comps together from a chosen linking location (no historic). I manage to keep the locations by copy/pasting them below first location on part 2 but can't figure it out for the legs. Edit : issue 1 solved by reassigning the already drawn legs (all of them) on Trip leg 10 with fixed start/end point and animated keyframes slided back before the comp begins. Second issue : if the comp is longer than 1min, the water layer disappears, any tips ? Edit : issue 2 solved by displaying/unlocking hidden layers and stretching up the water one. Third issue : when resizing the comp to 1080x1920 (vertical) I can see the border of the cloud layer (in the middle of the frame) Edit : issue 3 solved by scaling up the hidden cloud layer. Thanks !

I can't copy text stroke etc as you do in 3.40 as in the places where highlights are supposed to be, I can see only empty spaces.

This is the best, most straight foreward subtitle tutorial I've come across! Great work!!

Great tutorial! So far, the only "problem" I'm facing is that the subtitles-box even shows a little square when the text is empty (includes no letters).. So when you want to have a "break" for a moment with the subtitles you would have to work around it.. (I know it's because of the additional space which is added to the size of the letters/text). I'm sure there is a way through expressions to tell it not to show a box whenever the text remains empty... unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with expressions.

I'm sorry, however, this has to be said. This World Maps template is supposed to save time. I have spent hours watching tutorials and trying to use it and have found it to be a complex nightmare. These tutorials are out of date and do not show items in the same folders or positions as demonstrated. Having spent good money wanting to create a really simple map, I am now going to have to resort to creating a map directly in Premier Pro. Not bloody happy at all. 😥

Very helpful expression! The problem I'm currently facing is that when you move the text and box in the timeline, the timing of the box gets completely messed up for me and the box moves inbetween the text hold keyframes for some reason. I tried precomposing text and the box to move it but that doesnt fix the problem. I don't really know much about expressions but maybe it has to do with the .sourceRectAtTime command? Edit: I just found a workaround to not move the layers themselves, but dragging out the back and pulling in the front and then moving the keyframes to the correct timing. That kinda fixes it.

Hi! Thanks for the tutorial. Everything works great except for one weird error. I'm animating a trip around South, Central and North America, but at my leg 3 when I'm moving from Colombia to Mexico the South American part of the map vanishes while the plane's moving up. I tried to look in the shy layers but the South America map layer is working just the same as the others. I can't find a reason for it to just desapear from view. Can you help me?

Hi there, I just bought your template and installed AE. This is the first time I am using AE but since it was stated a beginner level should be sufficient I bought the template. Now, if I open the template in AE... I am not seeing the start screen as showed in this tutorial. I have tried to open both WorlTravelMaps -2.0 CC16 and 15 but it just didn't show. I am using a Macbook, don't know if this matters. Is there any possibility of getting some sort of support from anyone? Doesn't really matter who, I really want to figure out how to get started.
