Alright, imagine a story is like a video game where your main character (the hero) has two quests: one is about defeating a big, visible challenge (like saving the kingdom), and the other is about becoming a better person inside (like learning to be brave). These two quests work together to make the story exciting and emotional. Inner Journey (The Hero’s Inside Quest) This is about the hero changing on the inside. For example, maybe they’ve always been scared of trying new things, but by the end, they learn to be fearless. The struggles here come from the hero’s own feelings, like their fears or doubts. Think of it like the hero has been hurt before (maybe someone made them feel unimportant), and that pain made them pretend to be someone they’re not (their "false identity"). Throughout the story, the hero slowly stops pretending and discovers who they really are (their "essence" or true self). By the end, if they win, they’re not just successful-they’re also happier because they’ve become their true self. Outer Journey (The Hero’s Outside Quest) This is the big, visible mission. Maybe the hero needs to defeat a dragon, win a race, or save their family. The obstacles here come from other people or situations they can’t control, like a rival or a dangerous storm. At first, we see their regular life. But then something happens (like a challenge or problem), and the hero has to step up. The stakes keep getting higher, and at one point, it might look like they’ll fail. In the end, they face the biggest challenge (like fighting the villain), and if they win, their life changes for the better. How the Story Progresses The story moves through six stages and has five big moments (turning points) that shake things up: Stage 1: Setup - We meet the hero and learn about their inner struggles and outer life. Turning Point 1: Opportunity - Something new happens, giving the hero a reason to start their adventure. Stage 2: New Situation - The hero tries to adapt to their new challenge but realises they need to change to succeed. Turning Point 2: Change of Plans - The hero makes a plan to go after their goal. Stage 3: Progress - The hero works toward their goal, facing obstacles. Inside, they struggle between being their false self and true self. Turning Point 3: Midpoint - Things get serious. The hero commits to their goal but faces bigger challenges. Stage 4: Complications - The hero gets closer to failing. They face a huge setback and might doubt themselves. Turning Point 4: Major Setback - The hero’s lowest point, but they find the strength to keep going. Stage 5: Final Push - The hero faces the villain or biggest challenge. Turning Point 5: Final Push - The hero wins (or loses), completing both quests. Stage 6: Aftermath - We see the hero’s new, better life and how they’ve changed inside and out. Why Stories Work The story makes people feel something because of all the challenges the hero faces. For a good story, make sure the hero has to earn their victory by growing as a person and solving their big problem. Think of it like this: The inner journey is about who the hero becomes, and the outer journey is about what the hero does. Both parts need to happen for the story to feel complete!

The six commercial goals that a hero might pursue in a film are to win, to stop, to escape, to retrieve, to deliver, and to survive. These goals are used in many Hollywood films. Here are some examples of films that utilize these goals: To win: Queen's Gambit features a main character who wants to become the best chess player. To stop: Barbie is about the main character's journey to stop cellulite from forming. To survive: Talk to me features a main character who is trying to survive terrifying entities that occupy her body. To escape: Saw X features a character attempting to escape deadly traps. To deliver: Inception features a character who is tasked with planting an idea inside the mind of a CEO. To retrieve: Spider-Man no way home shows the main character trying to retrieve a cure for antagonists.

I am struggling - failed QC twice, and they are not specific on some of the issues. I pay for the Pro and can't speak to someone live. The email back and forth is not helping me understand. I have a final attempt as they only allow 3 tries.

Can these movie types be applied to individual characters? Like, someone is a Dude with a Problem, but that Problem is also the catalyst for Rites of Passage for someone else?

Thanks to all the folks who are determined to have the latest and greatest, and who are too lazy (lol) to manual focus that the GH5 is so cheap, I was able to buy one off ebay for $430 USD. I also grabbed a GH4 for good measure. I absolutely don't need anything else. I have a GH2 that died at a wedding a few months back, that was an awesome camera hacked.

And also we pay all this money monthly for car insurance we should have to pay anything . People go years without accidents so why can’t that money be build up in case of an accident to cover the damages . All insurances are just rackets and unfair.
