OMG, this is touching my soul. I've taken some of Alison's self-directed courses. I'm totally enthralled with the idea of initiative painting. The mark making, glazing, transfers etc. I'm a monoprinter and want to incorporate these ideas. Thank you! ❤️

I notice Alison, that you hold your tools like a writing instrument. When I draw loosley, I often hold mine at the far end of the instrument. What are your thoughts on this? 😊
@alisonwatt857012 күн бұрын
@@comette4u interesting observation- I have never thought about that. I think it’s perhaps because the markers are more like writing tools than brushes. When I work (standing) on larger pieces with brushes, my grip is quite different

Thank you Alison! I'm struggling now in a course I'm doing on Expressive Landscapes where negative painting is a huge part. the instructor uses big brushes and confidently manages to get great looking stylized trees. Mine, not so much :) too tentative, not enough paint, possibly wrong brushes. This was so helpful and it also so wonderful to "see" you. thank you thank you, Patricia

Thank you Jane great wee video. Ive used deep edge canvases and when l am working on a painting l take the paint round the edges, and keep doing that till the painting is finished. Ive seen other artists paint the edges in a single colour on deep edge canvases, l dont mean to be rude but ive never seen a clean finish. Whereas you have done a lovely clean job on the wood panels. They have smooth surfaces and lend themselves to a single colour. I did like the ochre and pink. Just a quick question. How do you protect the painting ? Maybe cold wax, and buff it up ? Sorry to ramble, but thanks again......Alioban ❤

When you were painting the first piece in different color edges, I thought that was so different and artistic, but then you were only showing it as examples of each different color. Have you thought of doing that? Painting your edges different colors on the sides so it gives a different look or vibe to the piece when observed from various angles? Lovely artworks.
