If that is all that is available it is better than nothing. Make sure to disconnect your hose from the hose bib / faucet if you are going to experience freezing temperatures. You can also wrap any sort of fiberglass insulation and use duct tape or any tape to secure it. Home depot / Lowes etc up north all sell a Styrofoam cover for your exterior hose bib. If there is a shut off inside the house going to the branch line supplying the hose bib/ faucet, turn it off inside and open the hose bib / faucet outside and let it drain. It's probably not a common practice down south but upgrading to a frost proof hose bib will be the best option going forward ( also the most expensive). You will still need to remove the hose from the faucet tor the frost proof hose bib / faucet to work. Good luck and as she said something is better than nothing ✌️
