Thanks so much!! That’s exciting, I hope it goes well! My tips for finishing are to avoid overdoing it at the start. It’s easy to run faster than your planned pace the first 10-20km, because there is so much energy in the crowd at the start. Other than that, just be confident in yourself and listen to your body. Adjust to any pains that you may have, and try to overcome! Good luck!

I love your attitude - 'I'm in agony and I think I'm going to throw up' all said with a huge smile! I ran it with my son. I loved it although it was quite a tough course on the cobblestones. Thank you.

Does it really look like someone could die from a fall from Taft Point?

Yes, if you fell off you would most likely die from it. It didn’t look survivable to me. I’m reading that it’s about 1000 feet straight down the cliff edge, and then it goes down further at an incline.

Why would you go when its that hot if you dont have to? Europeans come during the summer because that is when they have there 'holiday time' and they dont understand how hot it gets. They regularly hike in the heat and die. April was my cutoff (May for sure) to head to the mountains and higher elevations to avoid the heat, I went to Saline Valley Hot Springs in May. Once. The heat was thick enough to cut with a knife. It was not fun. We bailed after two hours and retreated the the ridge at the top of Grapevine Canyon for a 'slight' relief from the heat.

Thats very true, a lot of people underestimate the heat there. Like the Death Valley Germans! I intentionally went to Death Valley for the heat in May, because it was snowing in Salt Lake and I wanted to visit again before it got way too hot. It was definitely borderline. I’ve visited each season of the year, so I knew roughly what I was getting myself into!
