A question I've had on my mind for a long while now is what was the method of getting the kerbals back home? I assume the mini lunar starship would probably head to the gateway and the crew would board the capsule sent at the midpoint of the video to go home or something?
@salticus Жыл бұрын
I didn't give the return a lot of thought, but yeah, the Starship would dock with the Gateway and the crew would probably return with another spaceship.

the craft file for the gemini mun lander does work edit: and when i try to build a gemini lander i cant place the main strukter around the engine
@salticus Жыл бұрын
A new BDB update that changed some parts broke the craft file. I can't remember how I built the lander exactly, but I think I placed the structure under the Lander can and then used the offset tool to move it up.

I tried to build this myself with the BDB mod, but I can't find the robotic section that "lifts" the telescope up. Can somebody tell me how it is called? I searched: Hokulani(should be the BDB name for Skylab isn't it?) Truss, Robotic truss. The only thing I found was bugs
@salticus Жыл бұрын
I think you need to have the Breaking Ground DLC for the truss. As far as I know you should find it under "Hokulani".

In terms of space, I would be more worried about the Gemini itself - it is about the size of a compact car inside, but they would have to spend a week inside it

actually the first skylab mission orbited the station for a while checking out damage. When they entered skylab astronauts reported temperatures of 120*F and they concluded it was because of the shielding being torn off due to aerodynamic forces during liftoff. Skylab 2 peformed EVAs that added a gold foil to the outside of the station to reflect sunlight.
@arcosprey48112 жыл бұрын
as a result of the sun the outside of the station actually became visibly charred by the time Skylab 1 arrived .

Can't use the moon lander. Already installed everything requested. It apparently misses "bluedog.Apollo.Block2.RCSquad". Any ideas? I've been trying for a while and I just LOVE the lander. I've checked in the official BDB files and the missing file doesn't even exist there.
@salticus2 жыл бұрын
That's a part that got changed in a new(ish) BDB update, so older craft files with it aren't compatible anymore. The lander itself should be really easy to build though, it's like 10 parts.
@David-fb5wf2 жыл бұрын
@@salticus Alrighty. Thank you so much for the help! Edit: For anyone having this issue, download BDB 1.10.3, copy-paste the missing file into your current BDB KSP folder and you'll be good!

It's part of Bluedog Design Bureau, as well as all the other parts. Though in this video I am using the newest version that updated all the Skylab and Apollo parts, older versions may not have it.

An LES should've been there instead of ejector seats. In a pure oxygen environment, they dump you out next to what is essentially a bomb, and if you're ejecting, that bomb has most likely lost control. Not to mention how there was a very high chance of just ejecting straight through the hatch and dying

Everything about this is like if the soviet moon mission was americanized lol. The old modified hardware (Gemini instead of soyuz), the lack of a docking tunnel (Necessitating eva for transfer), the 2 person capule and 1 person lander, the tiny descent stage, its really amazing to think about.

And if the Soviet moon program had gone better than it historically did, you might well've seen something like this flown in order to be sure of beating the Soviets.
@nikollor Жыл бұрын
At that moment, the Soyuz was a brand new ship. And it was intended for a lunar flight (7K-LOK). The orbital version (7K-OK) is a branch of the lunar program, and not vice versa. The following versions had a pressurized docking port, starting with Soyuz-10 - 7KT-OK (although some Soyuz 7K-T and 7K-TM series (Soyuz-Apollo program) were used without a docking port for various reasons)
