Please I have a few questions about the 491.... Why did he say He doesn’t have the Medicare card? If someone is on 491, can they access commonwealth scholarships to study for example in a TAFE Institution or University for some certificates? Is someone on 491 tied to an employer or can they move jobs if they wish to? Please I would be happy if you reply. I want to know if some government benefits are attached. Someone told me 491 holders have same bragging rights as 190 and they are not asked to pay International fees if they wish to study.

Hi Oly, please see response below: Noah is on a bridging visa and that’s why he doesn’t have Medicare card but people on 491 can apply for Medicare care and have access. People on 491 visa I believe can do some TAFE course for free but MUST only study in regional areas. 491 visas are not tied to employers you can work with any employer based in Regional Australia. All the benefits that we know and have explored are as discussed in the video. I hope this helps

Hi please I need help. I’m trying to decide whether I should give the 190 or 491 visa a try however my points are currently only 75 as I do not have over 3 years SKILLED work experience (it’s in multiple sectors) which makes me feel anxious I might not get the visa or would struggle to find work hence I am also considering coming on the study visa with a dependent that’s able to work

Hi Ayomikun, it would be hard to provide some form of support as we believe there would be some context which is not clear. Would you be able to consult a registered migration agent to get the best advise; student visas should be the last option especially if there are less restrictive pathways available to you . Goodluck for the future

Hi, thank you for your question! We would be unable to provide any substantive information on this as we are no migration agents. It would be valuable if you’d consult a registered migration agents for more information or better still consider checking out the department of home affairs website for more information. Sorry we couldn’t be of much help.

Hi Tayo& Noah, This is so relatable. The story is uplifting. Please tell mummy Pastor I need her prayers in order to get my PR too. This top-notch loneliness cannot be overemphasized. And when you're jobless ontop of these predicaments,😢it takes grace. Keep up the good work 💪.

@syncskillsau Hello Mrs Thanks for your concern. However, I've check all the options on the Department of home affairs and one of the visas is suitable for me which is 189 independent visa. But now I have no family over there who can sponsor me. And I dont know how to apply in other to be sponsored by the state government.

I enjoyed watching this video and here is my perspective I currently live in beautiful city in Tasmania, I absolutely love living there and I wish I had lived there from onset of my arrival in Australia. My job is literally 4 mins away from me , my child’s school is 3 mins away and my GP/ A major hospital is just few mins away from my home as well. There is no traffic and you can make as much money / even more than living in the metropolitan cities. I have lived in Sydney a couple of years ago but I have enjoyed so much financial growth and peace of mind living in a regional area. I also have friends who have thier PR/ citizenship but have chosen to live in regional areas and are having the best of time to my knowledge. About the 491 the only thing I dislike about the visa is the iimitation on house ownership, I however see it all as a time to plan well and survey the house market very well. I also love the perks of the Medicare as it makes a huge difference, my daughter just went through a minor surgery that would have cost over 8000$ and this was covered by Medicare for this perk we are grateful and look forward to getting our PR soon. I however adore living in regional area and might stay there forever 😊.

New South Wales Cities and major regional centres 2259, 2264 to 2308, 2500 to 2526, 2528 to 2535 and 2574 Regional centres and other regional areas 2250 to 2258, 2260 to 2263, 2311 to 2490, 2527, 2536 to 2551, 2575 to 2739, 2753 to 2754, 2756 to 2758 and 2773 to 2898

How about education for the kids? Will you pay international fees or get discounts?
@syncskillsau

In our experience, we didn't get any discount on Childcare, you pay full amount because on a 491 visa you are still considered a temporary resident and won't get other govt benefits. You may access Home affairs page for more details.
