Hi, what’s the per kWh electric utility rate in your area ?

Your math doesn't math. Your paying about $90/month per car to charge at home. That will save you over gas, but that doesn't tell the whole picture either. Electric cars are more money to buy than comparable gas cars. Then you have to add the chargers and installation costs in the house ($1-$5k each). Then at 500 miles a week, you will need new Tesla batters installed in the car in 7-8 years at $20k. In other words, when you figure it all out, electric car is not saving you money over the life of the car. Electric cars are amazing for city driving to reduce pollution and noise. But to think they are better than gas cars in every circumstance, is naïve. Plus you can easily take long distance road trips without planning for stops. As compared to 5 minutes to fill a car with gas en route.

I installed these chargers myself. Cost me $100 I materials. I figured that was immaterial in the grand scheme of things of this video. The purpose of the video was to compare how much my electricity bill was before and after owning these two Teslas. I didn't do a deep dive into maintenance of electric vehicles versus gas vehicles. That would be a separate video done by another KZbinr lol

This is super dangerous, if you don't lower you charge rate on the Tesla and it defaults to the max charge rate you will melt this adapter and likely start a fire, and that's just Tesla, other EVs might pull even more power. The purpose of the adapter is to allow you to plug a 50 amp appliance into a 30 amp plug which is against all electrical codes for obvious fire reasons. The Amazon reviews even have pictures of this device melted after nearly starting a fire but was noticed by an attentive homeowner. I'm amazed that the manufacture of this product is even still in business. 100% don't use this...

@donsaunders53487 ай бұрын
To be a fair comparison to gas, you must first determine the total cost of the KWH on your bill (including all fees before dividing) and next, you need to be able to track the KWH dedicated to the chargers.... Last, you must know the exact number of miles travelled...... It's only a true comparison if you can cite an exact dollar cost per mile...
@Macstechtoybox10 күн бұрын
I agree. However that wasn't the purpose of this video. It was just to give a peek behind the curtain on what the average electricity bill is for me for anyone looking to be in a similar position as me and my wife. 👍🏿

I think the WYZE unit looks at the weather report and includes wind in the decision to water. I noticed the wind in the video and if wind is common, that might explain why the yard is dry, it will skip windy days. You may have to use a set schedule and discard the weather sensing watering feature. Beautiful place you have there, the yard needs to match it.

Shows $90 for past 31 days at the 2:35 mark. Consider that most people pay $70 if not more per week for gas. This is less than a third of that per month ($70x4 = $280) vs $90x3 = $270. Anyhow, I appreciate you showing this. And you guys drive a lot more than most. About the same as I do actually but most people do more like only 1k to 1.5k miles per month so the savings is even greater for most as the above are very conservative calculations in favor of gas but still triple the savings are shown. Again, thanks for the vid!

The other thing to consider is that the port is designed for an appliance that isn't rated for a lot of plugging and unplugging so beware of the additional wear.

Love our X Plaid overall but there are some quirks. I’m not a fan of the self presenting front doors - turned the feature off since there were too many false positives. Also had 2 instances where the car threw a bunch of errors - did the reset and luckily hasn’t come back in the last 2 months but still see a bug with lightshow - wanted to load up a custom light show for Halloween but it would stop several seconds in regardless if it was a custom show or one of the stock ones. I do have to say I love the falcon wing doors and would go as far as saying if you have a kid, it’s a must. So much easier loading our 4 1/2 year old in and out of the X compared to our Y or 3 that I traded.
@Macstechtoybox Жыл бұрын
Agree 100%. Though I personally have never seen those issues there are other small things that occur from time to time that I don't like.
@bdtang Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. The red looks great - we went with the blue X Plaid (w 20 inch rims and steering wheel) since it was available so I could get delivery in time for fsd transfer back in 3Q. Going to take our first longer road trip over new years after just getting the winter tire package installed last week - preparing for it to be less efficient due to higher rolling resistance. Curious if you’ve seen more uneven tire wear due to the greater camber in the rear tires - I added shims from macsboost proactively to the rear which has lessen the camber angle.
@Macstechtoybox Жыл бұрын
Thanks and nice! My wife actually just got delivery of another model x plaid in their new stealth grey color. Might do video on that. But to answer your question no uneven wear but what I have found slightly frustrating is the mixed information about rotating. With my MY performance I was told I couldn't rotate according to manual for MX you can. But you can't at least not in the traditional sense. I have seen some information about fronts being roasted and reads as well but I can't seem to logically wrap my head around how that makes sense in evening wear and tear on tires.

Thanks for the review. I'm happy to hear it is reliable though considering how much you guys used it rather than making a review after just hanging clothes on it for 3 years. lol I just bought the tr260 on cyber monday which is basically this treadmill with auto incline so your review was reassuring because I was reading a lot of comments about these treadmills breaking after 6 months and the company being difficult to deal with etc. I was going to get a horizon fitness t101 or a xterra trx2500 but those are too big for the space I have for it so these compact treadmills will have to do for now. Unfortunately the better a treadmill is the larger it is and the more it weighs. Btw, I was watching a video for another treadmill and they mentioned that putting the treadmill in the garage will void the warranty or something due to the elements, so just to be safe you should check if that's also applicable to your new treadmill. You don't want to spend 1k+ on a machine, have something happen to it and the company say your warranty is void because of where you put your machine. That would suck.
@Macstechtoybox Жыл бұрын
Yes thanks. When I installed my new treadmill I had a small issue with a part and one of their guys had to come out and he reiterated that point about voiding the warranty. He also hit on a few other points that I feel your regular consumer would never know. For example these things are meant to be in their own separate circuit. Meaning a direct line to your panel with no other electronics connected. And if found not to be that can also void your warranty .... I understand it but I just feel like a lot of people are unaware of this fact as well and likely can't do this in a typical set up. And we got two new units so I had to figure something out but just an FYI for you as well.
@GetUnwoke Жыл бұрын
@@Macstechtoybox yeah that's dumb and unrealistic. Who even has one to use solely for a treadmill these days. Most of us need like two 12plug extensions per outlet and even that's not enough for most of us.
@jasonlenihan985420 күн бұрын
As an electrician, I can tell you it’d be preferable to have a 20 amp circuit to run your treadmill due to the motor draw. But as far as voiding your warranty, that doesn’t sound right at all. Most the time in your house you’re not using every plug at the same time on a circuit. Say you have six plugs on a circuit and at the time you’re just using the treadmill plug there’s really no difference between that plug and a dedicated plug which is called a home run that goes all the way back to the panel. have you had six vacuum cleaners and use them all at the same time there is a chance you blow a circuit. Or if you got hot halogen, recessed lights and say 20 lights on one single pole switch, but a breaker does its job for a reason it trips that’s what they’re supposed to do if you’re overdrawn on that circuit. I could be wrong maybe that is written in there paperwork but it sure sounds silly but if you ever really, really worried about it, just grab your cord and fill it and see if it’s starting to get warm.

On your trade-in, did you have to get it reappraised since it went over 30-days? If so, did they attempt to lower the value? I’m waiting on my MX Plaid in the same color. The date has jumped around a few times. Currently it says Jan 3 - February 28. Also, has Tesla fixed the sensor issue so you can use your parking, autopilot, and door features?
@Macstechtoybox Жыл бұрын
Yes it did have to be reappraised and yes value did decrease as mileage had also increased during that time. But nothing drastic that I can remember. Unfortunately no, these features are still limited. My wife also just picked up a MX plaid and same for hers. This is frustrating but overall we clearly like the car as we now have two.

Soma Smart Shades is a shockingly bad bit of tech. Avoid and go with something more reliable. I’ve had it since it came out and it’s always either stuck or the hubs disconnected and needs restarting which results in Siri saying “the blinds are not responding”. To update the software you have to manually remove the memory card from the hub (raspberry pi) and then put it into a card reader, then download the software manually from their website, then put it on the usb card, put it back in the hub). The whole product is so clunky and buggy. Avoid avoid avoid.

@Macstechtoybox Жыл бұрын
If you drive that much your electric bill likely won't be higher however you'd likely be supercharging more frequently which is an added expense. Unless your trips are within 2 hours round trip back and forth to home
