You should always check the settings of the tailgate first especially if you have this same problem, it will save you some of your most valuable asset which is time! Thanks for the video🙏🏼

Thanks for the video, I just bought a 2006 that has a crank no start issue but it also has an overheating issue so I'm assuming the water pump is probably bad but 1st I need to get it running so I will check the smart plugs. Thanks again

No way you just helped me fix my 320d estate! My battery died and the boot would only open halfway so I went onto the settings and reset the boot to open fullway 😊 Thank you very much!

I have a different issue with the tailgate in a 13’ x5. The “tailgate Open” warning indicator goes on all the time while I’m driving but the tailgate is definitely closed. The interior lights stay on too, the car thinks the door is open. Do you ha e any experience dealing with this problem? I was leaving the car wash the fist time it happened. I wonder if the module got wet somehow. Thank you.
@aplusautoltd22783 жыл бұрын
ILir, if you are thinking that water got in check the control module on the right hand side just below the rear fuse panel and see if there is some water damage. If the module got water in it, you can remove it and let it dry or use a hair dryer to speed up the process. All the best

If only one spindle drive fails, you may get this outcome. And if one fails, the extra stress will kill the other one. Get it checked really soon and never open or close it manually if you can possibly avoid it, because that stands a high probability of destroying the spindle drive too. They are ridiculously overpriced unreliable crap. Almost $1,100 each from BMW--$300 a pair aftermarket.

I think my moms X5 is unique. It has a tailgate problem where it just doesn't work sometimes. It just doesn't open and then it does halfway or all the way but it closes completely fine except when it closes the Bmw doesn't detect the trunk actually being closed and it shows on always on the on the front the trunk is open even though it isn't and its locked tight and the lights the trunk brings are a bother because they keep turned on and block the vision of anyone trying to look back when the cargo cover is open..

Thanks for the video. I didn’t even know that was an option in the settings. My 2011 X5 has a tailgate that is struggling to get up and fuses and that setting seem fine so next option looks like it’s finding a way to test the struts? Thanks

Better hope the struts are okay, because for our F15 X5, our dealer here wants $1,093 FOR EACH STRUT!! I think that's at least obscene, if not criminal. Make sure to avoid opening them manually or you will screw them up. Thankfully, there are aftermarket replacements available for about $300 for a pair. These things are on all sorts of vehicles other than BMWs and they are all unreliable crap. So much money and extra complexity for so very little benefit. Ridiculous.
