This typifies why our armed forces are held in such high regard. It's so sad that this tournament isn't held anymore....such skill, aggression, precision. Incredible!!

Litterally Half a Ton of equipment.. Some saw bodies flying during trainings...those wheels are massive.. The guns deadly in full swing. Discipline is the Key in teamwork 🏴

I attended one of these I think in 1986 or it may have been 1988 The finale I think was a laser display of a green eagle flying around the arena, does anyone have video of that?

So sad it's no longer going. I saw this race live as a young kid back in the seventies and it was one of the most amazing things I'd ever seen. Tough b*stards! Nuff said.

I was a 15 year old boy from Southern California staying in Oxford for the summer and my grandparents took me to this event. I had seen the U.S. Navy Blue Angels & U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds at Point Mugu, CA the year before.

Just found this on KZbin.I ran Field Gun in for 1985 at Earls Court, “High on a hill” was the background the music during our warm up prior to our run. The song brings back so many happy memories. Thanks for the upload. 👍

Surprised I found this! Was one of the gunners stood in the back of the defenders. Cleaning all the carbon after each show was a total bitch! Well worth it though :)

I've seen the King's Troop RHA Musical Drive dozens of times, including being in the front row of the audience at Windsor and Earls Court. Always a thrill, you won't find a better example of teamwork or equestrianism anywhere.

I had the honour of creating all the pyrotechnic special effects that year, and what they don’t show is that one unlucky marine on the first night leant too far over the final obstacle and singed his hair quite badly. Getting those bins to explode wherever the grenade landed was no mean feat either!

As someone who did 2 seasons as Devonports Field Gun "Doc" 86 and 87 I can assure you it gets quite interesting I dealt with some broken limbs, on the positive all that suturing up on hands, faces etc means if I ever decided to take up quilting I would be a natural.

I know labour & the commies shut most of this down, destroying our herratage & national pride is what they're about after all.. I just find it hard to believe these things haven't made a comeback though. All but stopped now. Should be a matter of high shame for those establishment types.
