Seating a mag on a closed bolt does not bend feed lips unless something is way out of spec. I have 3 mp5 and I always store them with a loaded mag on a closed bolt. The open bolt mag change is HKs way of making mag insertion easier. Never once have I heard of or seen anywhere issues that came from inserting a mp5 mag on a closed bolt other than it being harder to seat.

First it's nearly impossible to assemble a gun and not have your hand in the way. Second why don't you post a better assembly video? This the video accomplished its goal, I watched the video and could now assemble one of these guns. If you can't assemble one of these after watching this you shouldn't be assembling any guns until you learn some basics of mechanical engineering.

I was just about to start my 3D CAD for this exact project. I will buy the aluminum version when your are tooled up! How are you getting the hammer around the Recoil Spring Rod? I have seen a site with a bolt milled down to a tuning fork looking recoil spring rod. Great project, you are solving a lot of RPD build issues with this.
@SC-yw1uc
@SC-yw1uc 11 ай бұрын
Thanks. The actual recoil rod is carved in the middle so the hammer can go through in the middle. The two arms of the fork rod must be welded to the bolt , this is the only way that the rod can resist the forces the gun exerts on the it. I bought a set of those striker setups years ago but realized they don't work for long, usually in the range of 50 rounds. This gun works good with the original stock and recoil rod but is exceptional with the AR10 tube and spring. The original spring is moody because is small diameter, the AR10 spring makes this gun super smooth and reliable. It is a pleasure to shoot. As of today we have already built 3 guns with the 3d printed lower, without a problem. One of next projects will be the metal lower.

I see, that this comment section is dead, so I wanted to ask something: Is there a rail system, that is similar to Cod WZ's Grau's? I specifically mean the Tempus barrel attachment. I couldn't find a rail or handguard that would even resemble it. If you could send me a link to one that does, I would really appriciate it. Also, I just wanted to ask, where did you get your Sig 551 from? I only found them on gunbroker, but they cost too much. Anyways, that's it, keep up the good work, I hope you see this.
@interforusagroupinc.3638
@interforusagroupinc.3638 Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply but it took me a little to get what WZ and a Grau are (they are War Zone game and the Sig 551 rifle in that game). I am sorry but I am like more than 50 less than 60 years old so I guess a little out of sync. Should have asked my associate that would have known for sure. Coming to the question: if you are talking of the SG551 Swat of the game (short barrel) the handguard is a normal handguard with an added (bolted) rail per side. But I guess you refer to the Sig 551 infantry rifle barrel length which has a strange (longer) handguard and that as I know does not exist. The good news is that we can easily draw it nad 3d print in a new pro material which lasts forever and i unbreakable (the same we make our RPD receivers). Just a matter to do it, thanks for pointing it. RIght now we are working on installing our new CNC machine as soon as we finish that we will attack this project. If you want to add details etc. please contact us and we will consider what you will contribute. Thanks. Simon.

This is a SIG 551-2 Swat ex Louisiana police which we rebuilt into a working firearm. It is my personal firearm and the only gun as nimble as the AR70/223 (series I). I love because it was the Counter terrorism gun when I was in the service (I never had it as I never was in that outfit but loved anyway). We added like 1" welded extension before building it so it is a 16.1" rifle now and can have the stock. A customer should bring me another parts kit in the future as he wants that built and sold but consider we are talking of $5000/6000 guns once built. The one imported now are aluminum not steel, have a different lower than US aluminum lower (good thing, these are better), have 16" long barrel and need stock and folding mechanism. In the end they cost as one of these guns, more or less.

This going anywhere? would be interested in a lower for my project also trying to avoid striker setup
@interforusagroupinc.3638
@interforusagroupinc.3638 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely yes. Right now the 3d printed lower works perfectly but still we have a slight flexibility problem which tends to make the gun shoot binary. Right now the gun is super safe, super reliable but binary (shot 50 rounds more today , more tomorrow at the range). The gun right now is a breeze to shoot because in binary it is is fast, smooth and super super reliable. The material we are using now is impossible to break but has a little too much flexibility. The sensation of power and rate in binary is the same I felt on the Italian MG42 when I was in the service, as Italian Mg42s had a heavier bolt which made the gun shoot a tad slower. For some reason the gun has a lot more energy of an AK with the same cartridge. But is binary while we would have liked a selectable safe/semi/super fast (super short pull and release like we have on our ARs). Under this aspect we are machining our first aluminum lower prototype in the next days. It will be definitely reliable but will cost more than the 3d printed. So in a way or the other we should have something to sell pretty soon. And stay away from the striker setup like the plague, it is a mega pain to build and is designed so that a small spring is flattened by the sear. This makes the system last like 500/100 round at most and then starts to go water pistol (pull trigger nothing happens, pull like 2 or 3 times and shoots one). I bought the last 10 years ago before the company closed and I have sold them all, of course informing the buyers that the system did not work or was heavy maintenance at nest (many knew already). This is the reason we started this version.

Does it have the twin tube gas system and heavy buffer that KNS was selling?
@interforusagroupinc.3638
@interforusagroupinc.3638 Жыл бұрын
It has not , does not need them because it has an adjustable gas system which did not exist at the time. Adjusting the gas to "just right" prevents need of heavier buffer and twin tubes (which were needed to handle the gas in excess) making the gun perfectly reliable. At the time the big problem of this gun was FA fire because it made the gas problem more important. We don't do NFA guns so we had no way to tell but I am ready to bet that the adjustable system would solve that problem too. As of today we have built some of these without a problem. Thanks for watching this video.

I have the same pistol and am experiencing the same problems. What was the fix? Broken spring, change out the locking piece? If so, what number locking piece?
@interforusagroupinc.3638
@interforusagroupinc.3638 2 жыл бұрын
The problem is that 99% of the indstrial made short barrel HK have this problem. That is because, due to the short barrel, the normal rifle locking pieceis too firm while the pressure in the barrel goes down fast because of short length. The problem can be easily solved but each gun must be inspected and tested by itself at a range where you can disassemble the gun and modify it between tests, so not a public range. The ideal is a practical shooting range where you can rent a bay all for yourself with a table, like we do. It can be locking piece, mainspring length, rollers (bolt gap), even the flash hider has a lot of influx on the outcome and the ideal combination is different for each gun. Just imagine how much doing this on every industrial gun, much better to test fire a couple rounds rearming by hand and offload the problem onto the final customer. This of course does not happen on G3 and G3K (12") barrel length rifles because they have pressure in excess for the job, but on 8.5" and shorter barrel (like the Dragon 4.5") this is more of a problem.
