Your position on this case is bizarre. Their defense is self defense-not that they’d been abused. There was zero evidence that they were in fear for their lives the night of their meticulously planned murders. Yes they were abused and had horrible parents. The new “evidence” has not been authenticated. You Laura are shocking in this.

You can have your own opinion but if this is a manslaughter case, which I believe it is, they have served triple the time of those convicted for manslaughter. Not ok.
@c9cmd335
@c9cmd335 8 сағат бұрын
Do you believe that the premedation and planning should be a factor..? Do you believe that if everything they said happened and I am not saying it didn't that the level of brutality was justified.? Emptying a shotgun into anyone is extreme violence and spouts of hatred..but to reload and shoot again..I'm not comfortable with that..nor the clean up of the expended shells and disposing of guns...im not comfortable with the driving hours to purchase the guns again planning..and old enough to purchase weapons .and they were not boys at the time ok Eric was young 18 but still not a child lyle was 21. ( i may have picked it up wrong but did lyle not say his abuse ended when he was around 8).why did they remain in the house... they were young adults... There are thousands of child sexual abuse victims at the hands of parents and family.. can speak as many can from experience.. But to plan and premeditate such a brutal slaying is what does not sit right with me.. nor does it sit right with me that a 21yr old man shot his parents out of fear..he had choices he could have left..he did say that in his mind he believed his life was in danger from his father and this was his only option..but was it ? .. 21?? I'd say u would have other options ..! I love your podcasts and your breaking down of individual cases and evidence theories etc.. and I think trolling is a ridiculous form of keyboard bullying and really not worth much discussion... but I also believe u like to hear opinions from those of us who do not have the experience or insight into all evidence that is not only out there but is only privy to the few..again I look forward to listening to your full insight into this case..

@@c9cmd335 it seems you are not familiar with the backstory that lead to them being afraid on that weekend, and you don't seem to considering who Jose was, the power, influence and connections he had? You should look more into it, I try to keep this short. Lyle's SA stopped, Erik continued being abused, which he told his cousin in that letter that is new evidence, it was written a few months before the incident. Erik thought he could finally escape when going to college, only to learn that he once again wasn't allowed to make his own choices and his entire future down to every course in college was mapped out, he should sleep home several nights a week and after college they were going to move to some island and work together. That's when Erik felt hopeless told Lyle that "it" was still happening. And Lyle threatened to expose Jose if he didn't let Erik go. Fear of being killed was programed into Erik intentionally in these mirror sessions.... but really both of them had been threatened over the course of their lives and seen the brutality their father was capable of, they had no reason to not believe he was capable of k illing them to protect his name and could track them down. When you're a no name poor person running away or going to authorities is much more easy, in this case it was much more tricky. And noone would have believed an 18 year old boy at that time anyways, let alone with a father who was most likely part of a network in that zip area.
@fionamcgrath8982
@fionamcgrath8982 6 сағат бұрын
@c9cmd335 Jose was a very influential man and also a very scary one. All extended family members were witnesses of his anger and were in fear of him. Eric had been threatened more than once that he would be killed if he ever tried to leave. All the answers regarding your questions are on KZbin spread through various channels. Ann Burgess was asked to provide an opinion for one brother in the first trial. Even today she stands by her opinion and believes both boys should be released. Any opinion Ann Burgess would have regarding a case should be considered in the highest regard based on her extensive background and experience in this field. The Interview Room is a good channel to listen to her views on various cases and to learn about her impact on helping to identify victims of crime and to give them justice, even beyond the grave.

What is really in dispute for me is, were they ever really abused, or was that just a ploy for sympathy? I felt their testimony was fake on this point. Even if they really were, nothing excuses the completely brutal blasting of their mother and then the wanton reckless spending of their estate as soon as they got their hands on the money. Laura, you are sounding more and more like just another influencer with an agenda. I'm outa here.

you are sounding like someone that doesn't have the mental and/ or emotional capacity to understand complex evidence and nuanced analysis. any person with a good critical mind and some basic empathy, that has seen the court videos and looked at all of the evidence, can only conclude that the boys were terrorised and r*ped by their own father. if YOU don't want to see it because of some personal hangups and biases, that's absolutely your own problem. luckily, the justice system does not depend on people like you.

Also 3 weeks prior to nicola going missing another woman was running by a river and a man tried to grab her. This was on the 7th of Jan. Both witness describe a man wearing dark cloths and hat. Barrorford in lancashire is not far from St michaels. Today I hear there looking for a lady called Victoria who they say may of entered a river. Is this just a coincidence or is something more going on.. the family's of both have endured so much. I wish somone could look at this.

What a tragedy for this poor lady and her family. What about the man who was seen near by described by a Mr Fife as wearing black cloths and a beanie. On the 7th january at 11.30 am a woman was jogging down a canal in barrowford lancashire, a man tried to grab her a passer by came along and he ran off. Police released cctv footage of this man he was dressed in black with a beanie on. It may be just a coincidence.i read about it in the lancashire post online. Nicola was clearly loved by all her family and those who knew her and was clearly a wonderful mum to her daughters. It's a tragic accident by the sounds of it. Rest in peace nicola.
