In Episode 1, you mentioned to prepare what you want to say and use their questions to talk about those prepared talking points. What key points would you recommend I prepare for my first management interview.
@divizziointernational5722
@divizziointernational5722 Жыл бұрын
Hey Daniel, thanks for watching. In my class (and online course and book) I have an exercise that asks participants to prepare for an interview with no questions. You walk in and the interviewer says, "I have no questions for you. Tell me everything you want me to know about you to convince me to hire you." That is the way I interviewed when I was a Dept. Head at a college. 99% of applicants do poorly with that question - they have no idea what they want to say to promote themselves and convince the interviewer. On that "must say" list are your accomplishments, your philosophy about and strategies for leadership, stories of when you were in leadership outside of work and what you learned about leadership from them, and incidentals about your personality/work style/work ethic, etc. For instance, if I got the question, "Tell me of a time you had a conflict with another and how you handled it." The first thing out of my mouth would be a "commentary" on conflict. What do I want to say about me BEFORE answering their question? I would say that I don't have much conflict, and I'll explain WHY I don't have much conflict. THEN I'll answer the question with an example. I am "taking the opportunity" first to say what I want to say about that subject (setting the context for my answer) and then giving them the example they asked for. So, what are all the things you would say in a "no question" interview? Those are your key points. I don't know if you have time for this or not, but you might find either my online course or book (audio/eBook, paperback) beneficial. You can find both at craigdivizzio.com/online-courses/. Regardless how you prepare, I wish you the best and I'm happy to help with other questions you might have.

@divizziointernational5722
@divizziointernational5722 2 жыл бұрын
Sure. The key is to talk about how the "process" of handling clients of any size is the same. Detail the "process" you use to land and/or service those clients, and how your being successful in the past makes you confident you will be as successful with high ticket sized clients. Hey Coy, I do wish you well, and questioning your abilities re: whether you are ready or not is NORMAL. For anything they ask you in the interview you have never done before and are a bit nervous to actually do on the job... talk about how you are a quick learner and are confident in your ability to pick up whatever is needed to excel as a leader. In the next couple of days remind yourself of challenges you have faced in the past and how you managed them successfully - and then carry that confidence into the interview with you. If you want to be in leadership - for all the right reasons - you will figure out how to do it on your own or you'll ask for help when you get on the job. Trust that your desire to be in leadership is there for a reason - it's YOUR TIME. Now, go get what's yours!

Ginger is a great leader at NASA, and this was a great interview, Craig! As Ginger noted, Craig's Performance Enhancing Feedback class has helped a lot of leaders over the years. Thank you!
