1:00:33 Hmm? Little editing error? Haha. Love your commentary and how thorough you made it! There's so much I never noticed or knew about, even though MP1 is one of my favorite games ever since childhood.

@@新見カイラ oops, I dont know what happened there haha It was meant to say: "Across the Phendrana Shorelines, there’s a new Save Station. A few panels on the walls can be scanned for some Space Pirate reports. I think the most interesting part is the tiny bit of world building. If a pirate disobeys orders they get a reduction of rations. It paints a picture about the militaristic nature of their culture with very little."

This seems like a great innovation, so keep up the good work! I don't play action games at all anymore, so my advice would be to tie the bonus damage mini game difficulty to the critical rate. Having the mini game get easier the higher the critical rate to the point where it is awarded automatically at 100% crit rate would still let this game appeal to extreme casuals like me who intend to twink out their characters.

One of the reasons I liked Valkyria Chronicles was because of the mechanic that let you choose how and where to shoot. I like the ideas you are playing with here, will look forward to seeing where it ends up.

The connection with the story of Nimrod is very interesting because now that I think about it, the Shrine definitely represents the Tower of Babel, yet it is a finished one. They've reached the heaven (supported by the fact that the garden is directly on top of the Shrine and that it represents the Garden of Eden), and managed to reached a God (Dormin) only for them to later found out that it is actually not worth it. They sealed Dormin and abandoned the land so that nobody shall attempt to reach for power that is never meant to be there in the first place.

Kefka pallazzo bares similar themes to charlie chaplin’s “nonsense song” in one of the first movies thats part silent & part actually is switching over to you can near it! Also “nonsense” is what kefka is doing…..

Thanks for helping me make sense of a precious experience, I had this saved to rewatch when I need some introspection and clarity. My full thanks go out to you 🙏 The only other game where you get “episodic glimpses” that ties in game mechanics and condense them into a life lesson at the end - I’d say it’s NieR Automata. But your analysis has shown that even a shorter game like Braid can have a lot to say about a grounded “smell the roses” worldview I desperately needed at this point in life. I really owe you this one 🙏

I am encountering this video _after_ the recent 2024 release of Braid Anniversary Edition. It contains an immense amount of commentary, itself curated from entirely new interviews with Jon and his team (and said interviews are being separately released as podcast episodes). Much of that interview content is itself condensation of the various talks he's given, several of which you drew on to produce this analysis. It is interesting to see that other people like yourself were interested enough to collate this information into a presentation on their own before Thekla Inc undertook the same effort.

Who's playing the game in this footage? Do they not realize that you don't have to yank Yorda's arm out of it's socket every time you start to move? Jeez, just watching this makes my elbow hurt Take off with the joystick in walk mode, and once she knows which direction you want to go, then you can accelerate.

You can’t imagine how glad I am to hear you saying that about the temples!! From what I’ve seen/heard, I thought I was the only one thinking it. I was so hyped when I heard they were back in this game yet so underwhelmed when I got there to face such simple puzzles and places. The fire temple was my favourite as well, probably because I approached it the same way as you did. But I never found anything “challenging” about them. Luckily the boss fights were nice.
