There's no comparison, both are equally beautiful in their own ways and I am unsure what you mean by security but Thailand and Indonesia both are heavily frequented by tourists, so they are great for travel and everything is easily accessible - stays, food, experiences.

@@shubhamsingh-no8jfThat kind of fear is across a lot of countries, but it’s not extremely prevalent. I have heard of it too, but never fallen prey myself. All we can do is try and be as vigilant and careful as possible and this is while traveling anywhere :)

Sri lanka has its charms and is an exotic place to visit along with huge birdlife and some wildlife. It is not a cheap destination but nowhere is in reality. The starred hotels are world class ..green areas too with tea plantations ...

You're absolutely right. Until you visit the Southern coast of Sri Lanka and realize it is a budding hotspot that might be even better than Bali at some point in the future for digital nomads especially who'd like the same vibe as Bali but much quieter and with lesser crowds.
