@@mr.cebuano2843 ..'Cariñosa' translated as 'affectionate girl/woman' in English is a dance of courtship..while La Jota in the Philippines, during Spanish era, in danced during social gatherings..also La Jota dancers uses castanet held in their hands that produces a clicking sound..in the Cariñosa the dancers uses shortly a fan for females & a handkerchief by both male & female..although both dances' basic step is 'waltz', the choreography is different..

About where the two dances came from, i have to search it first..Jota is a Spanish dance..each region in the philippines has its own version..while Cariñosa came from region 6 particularly on Panay island..

I will tell you one by one: religion of Roman Catholic, celebrations such as fiestas and festivals for the saints, the way we celebrate Christmas and new year at midnight having hamon, queso de bola in which we call the preparation as noche Buena and media noche, the carollings which are not found in the others Asians, our traditional literature stories of Ibong Adarna, Florante at Laura and more with a western concept, our folk dances, traditional music accompanied by rondalla, the kundiman as versions of the habaneras, filipiniana or national clothing, Spanish vocabulary in our languages, our food even adobo is a western influence and more and more food ( caldereta, mechado, menufo, afritada, lengua, morcon, ensalada, leche flan, lechon, patatim, estofado, relleno, paella, different breads and pastries and more) our beliefs, our values ( it is included with Filipino time, kumpadre system etc.) Traditions such as baptism, confirmation, debut another version of quincenerra, fond of party and merry making, house structure parts, structures of the community in which the center of the town should always have Church and municipal halls along the plaza together, the name of the places and the concept, the way we deal with people, our surnames etc.

i have questions to you dear! are you a bangsa tausug talaga? from what place in Mindanao specifically? are you in a dance company or in a dance performing group? can you name all the things represented in the production? do you understand the staging and discipline applied throughout the dance? well, if that so... tell us more so that we could collaborate ideas and don't assume you all have the wisdom of the culture represented in that presentation... i know we are all concern on how to present cultural performances during competitions not to compromise the authenticity and aesthetics, and i guess you understand my language if your an artist... our dance group is open for any discussions with regards to your concerns... thank you!

Hello maam, about po sa sinabi nyo maybe there are certain dance na hindi po traditional. Gaya po sa sinabi nyo na pagbaba sa kawayan ang mga babae. Since it's a competition there are scenes that we considered na hindi traditional. Kill the time masyado if we do the pagbaba pa lang. Regarding the music, our musicians are knowledgeable about the music we applied. We are highly appreciated your comment maam, and besides hindi lang naman po iisa ang tausug sa mindanao. I mean, marami pong mga tausug sa parte sa mindanao. May mga pagsaliksik kaming ginawa, hindi po isang lugar ang in a-approach namin. May elder din kami na pure tausug ang sumali sa amin, and since kasali po sya sa performance namin, na isa din sya sa membro namin maam. Sa kanya po kami nagsangguni about sa dance piece namin maam. Pero salamat po sa comment nyo sa amin, ito ay lubos namin tatanggapin. Hayaan nyo po hindi kami titigil sa pagsasaliksik sa kulturang Mindanaoan. Salamat po.

Maranao inspired dance po ito

Pwede po ba namin mahingi yung Music? or kahit title lang po. Ang galing po kasi ng pagkaka represent nyo sa culture ng maranao, kaya naiinspired din po kami na irepresent ito.
