Can’t watch this episode as a dog lover the ending is just way too sad

I think this may be more the story of Fido and his owner Carlo Soriani. The only reason I say that is because Fido’s story (very similar to the Japanese Hachiko) takes place in Italy in 1941 and Seymour is outside of the pizzeria in this episode. Just a thought.

The thing thats makes this more beautiful is that Yancy would tell his son all about Fry and his dreams, so Frys nephew did these things to honor his Uncle not steal them from Fry, when Fry realized this, he was over come with emotion and put the clover back 😢
@themcknoxАй бұрын
It was beautiful because it was Fry's first real reminder that he was never forgotten about by his family.

I’m 24 years old and even after all these years, this episode still brings me to tears. Dang it Fry, if you only had known the truth about Seymour, you would have brought him back in a heartbeat.

Man, when I first saw the ending of this, it made me shocked, sad, and touched at the same time. I was shocked because of the fact Yancy named his son after his brother, on account of the fact, Yancy acts like a jealous brother through nearly the entire episode. I was touched that Yancy named his son after his brother and it made me sad because Fry never got to meet his nephew and never reconciled with not only his brother but his entire family.

Fry’s disappearance was effectively a suicide as far as his family and dog were concerned. They really never got over it even though he thought (or maybe wanted to think) they wouldn’t even care that much.

For those of you that don't know, this episode was based on the real life story of Hachikō, a Japanese dog that waited for his owner to return at a train station for 9 years. The professor would commute to work everyday, and Hachikō would leave the house to greet him at the end of each day at the nearby station. They would go for a walk and get snacks along the route before returning home. This had been their traditional routine until one day the professor didn't come home. He suddenly died that day at the university that he was teaching at, and Hachikō was completely unaware of this. And out of love and loyalty he would return to that train station everyday for the rest of his life waiting for his beloved owner to return. Hachikō's story has become a huge children's morality tale in Japan about Love, Loyalty, and Faith. He became a sensation throughout Japan. People passing through the station would stop just to visit Hachikō and give him treats, even the Emperor was aware of him and declared him a national treasure not to be harmed. When Hachikō finally did pass away he was surrounded by station staff, fans, on lookers. His burial was recognized by all of Tokyo. Hachikō continues to be national symbol for the people of Japan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachik%C5%8D

This hits hard and my late father had something similar happen to him. He was working in Africa for a few years and he had a dog there called Bastard. Bastard was his best friend and lived in the same house as him, and got attached to him. Bastard was not his dog to begin with, but became his dog through love. As my father was working all around the world and the world was different back then, he couldn't take Bastard with him. Only much later when he got in touch with the local guy who took care of the house and yard, he found out that Bastard waited for him next to the fence each and every day. Every time a car went by Bastard got his hopes up. Bastard died next to the fence waiting for my father. Finding this out broke my father for a while, he was not himself for a long time. Only older I understand why and I would have had the same reaction in his place.

The amount of people that thought the whole series reset after this just made me laugh for years. The professor LITERALLY said they go back before the time button was made. Meaning the show was not a big loop, they left it open-ended. When Fry says "You mean, we get to live our lives over again?" He didn't mean from the first episode, he meant that he and Leela lived the rest of their lives together after time froze. Then y'all call the show out for rebooting and saying it makes no sense lol what.
