This was the first reading of a Paul Temple mystery I’d heard. It was outstanding! Kudos to the narrator; he was EXCELLENT. Thank you “A Room With A Past” for sharing with us KZbinrs; very thoughtful. This was also my first visit to your channel. I see myself visiting with you often.😊

I think this earlier recording featured Kim Peacock as Paul Temple and Peter Coke as Terry Palmer.

The same script (by Harry Kronman) was previously used on the June 21, 1948 edition of "SCREEN GUILD THEATER". Jeff Chandler {as "Ira Grossel", but not credited} was also heard in the September 1946 adaptation on "ACADEMY AWARD"- but in that version, he was "Jack".

Gerald Mohr, the narrator, was also a regular supporting player on "ACADEMY AWARD" at the time. In fact, he also narrated their adaptation of "The informer" the previous evening {May 25th}.

Actually this has sounded like the best half hour Marlowe radio plays I’ve heard. It was good acting and a decent story with a whole lot less loud trumpet playing. Gonna look for more!

Sounds similar to today's "COPS" and "On Patrol Live" TV shows! A radio program at least a generation ahead of its time...

A couple of notes: Palmolive dish soap wasn't introduced until 1965; the actress who played Julie Erickson in the later episodes of Hilltop House, however--including this very episode--became forever linked to Palmolive. Jan Miner (not Miller) was "Madge the Manicurist" in the long-running series of TV commercials for Palmolive dish soap in the U. S. and several foreign countries ("you're soaking in it!")

I didn't know that Andy Clyde played California Carlson on radio as well as the Hopalong Cassidy movies(1940-1948). Curiously, Clyde's character did not appear on the Hopalong Cassidy television program (1952-1954)..
