Interesting. Why is the dagger held on the same side as the back foot? I would think forward foot so when you displace opponents blade, you can step in with your sword. I'm interested to hear about your school/style

@@akimoro78 Would you mind telling me how you decided how many plates to use for it to fit you properly? Should I just use my chest or waist measurement or something? This will be my first dive into anything like this and I'm just really overwhelmed and confused lol
@akimoro785 жыл бұрын
@@simonovich8977 I used my chest measurement and did the math. The website has a plate calculator that is pretty accurate. Always buy a few extra plates in case some break and you need to make repairs.

If i would build a chestplate out of these plates how many should I get?
@akimoro786 жыл бұрын
There is a calculator on their website. I used 1100 just for the chest plate. Not the tassets or shoulders.

@akimoro787 жыл бұрын
The plates are from Plastic Lamellar, see the link in the description.
@Stalfos858 жыл бұрын
You don't really demonstrate the articulation of the glove, which is a major aspect of functionality. Is there any fingertip protection aside from the leather? lastly, those plates look way thicker than necessary, what types of plastic are you experimenting with? I would recommend Kydex.
@felixliu49678 жыл бұрын
Hey just wondering did you make the other parts other then the do in sengokudaimyo and do you know why they estimate more plates for you to use in plasticlamellar?Also in sengoku it says to lace in a circlular arc so it would form an arc when laid flat, does this lacing help in that and if not how would i do that?
@akimoro788 жыл бұрын
Sode and kosode would increase the number by several hundred. When you make the "belts" they naturally curve. When you finish it, it lays flat.
@krfrostbight14898 жыл бұрын

I know the number of plates used is based on the size of the person but how many did you use to make your entire armor?
@akimoro789 жыл бұрын
+Michelle Puente I am 6' tall and 205 lbs. I used 1100 plates.
@ms.lilith89059 жыл бұрын
+Mike D Wow! 1100 plates! Thanks for posting this video. It's really going to help. My son is 16 yrs old, 5'1, 120 lbs. it's going to be a lot of work but it's going to be awesome when it's done. What do you think of using a baseball catchers chest piece. It looks a lot like the chest piece of the samauri armor. I also read gutting paracord for the lacing. Also he is the only person that has a Japanese persona. He started with Roman. I'm concerned that the other kids will all have shields but he won't be using a shield anymore with the change to samauri persona. Our Barony leans toward Viking. Will he have a major disadvantage without a shield? He's determined to have a Japanese persona regardless.
@akimoro789 жыл бұрын
On Facebook there is a SCA Japanese group. Also be sure to sign up on Tousando.proboards.com . There is a lot of documentation of Japanese using shields. The Japanese word for shield is Tate. But my knight and I fight with two swords. I would say that it gives us a great advantage over guys who are stuck with a shield.

***** Per glove. He makes them from leather. They are extremely time intensive. I don't know if you've ever tried making leather gloves, but it sucks making glove. If you search leather protective glove on google, all of those are his gloves. I pretty much had to have them for me to train safely. you could also use hocky/lacrosse gloves for protective gear when training with steel weapons. :) good luck whatever you decide.
