Ringo always plays for the music, not super technical but he compliments what the rest of the band is doing. And here he did a nice job of playing the "bo-diddly" bass drum groove (as Porcaro called it) and making this live version pump. Anyone knocking Ringo should open up their minds. You could learn something from him. The dude knew when to play, when not to play and leave space and came up with a lot of cool, albeit simple drum grooves and fills in his day. Most of your top shelf pros still today will include him in their list of influences and inspirations when asked.
