I just happened to run into your channel while doing tons of research in adventure riding and PA area. This is very helpful and definitely going to look into this for next year. Currently waiting for my bike to be delivered for next season. I'm in PA, Aston/Brookhaven area so easy access into Jersey if you wanna show me some easy rides to get used to it? Not new to riding but new to the whole adventure thing and all. Great video! awesome gear! and honestly nothing wrong with the headband ;)

There’s plenty of rides in PA, mostly where I ride because it’s close to Jersey. Look into the Cross PA Adventure Trail group on Facebook. Also the MABDR and NEBDR. NEBDR is more difficult. What bike you getting?

I tried doing a section of the BDRX with the free GAIA and it was a disaster. I lost cell service and wasn’t really familiar with the app or the area. It turned out fine because it didn’t really matter for one day and coming home but after that I paid for it(with a coupon) and that allows saving offline maps. That worked much better the next time. It did hurt paying that much for just a year, especially knowing I’ll realistically only get to use it a handful of times.

I’ve always use Gaia for free off-line. I don’t ever understand why people say they need to pay for it in order to follow a line.

I found the map on CPAAT. It is only one route. I know there is a northern route and a southern route (round trip). Do you have a link to both routes. Alex, nice series from your group trip. I have not done the bdr x in PA yet. Please dont take this wrong, but why do they call it an X route as most/all of your footage was mostly flat gravel. The most difficult terrain looked like you guys going around the construction truck. Was it that you didn't record the difficult sections or is it an X route labeled that way because of using heavier adventure bikes?

BDR X means the route loops its X for the sake of their categorization of their routes

Nice video and narration by Alex! About your tip # 58, I think the opposite is also true. Even for riders planning travel only from hotel to hotel, you should always have the capability of impromptu emergency camping comfortably. Multiple times I have seen videos of tired groups traveling late into the night to get to a hotel and / or restaurant. It looks not just uncomfortable but even dangerous.

Fantastic video. Like a comment below, I watch a TON of these things and this is really well done. You're a natural! I'm hoping to do the CPAAT (North out/South back) later this year so this was super-helpful as are the other episodes Many Thanks!!! Once observation that pertains specifically to me but possibly others. I did several big rides in 2022 and on the last one to the Outer Banks and wandering through Virginia, I couldn't get one of my GoPros to work correctly. I found myself messing with it both on and off the bike, making several stops to troubleshoot the problem. At a certain point, I FINALLY realized it was ruining my trip. I couldn't get in to "flow" and I wasn't focusing enough on the experience (or the road). I disconnected everything and put the phuking thing in my bag. I have much clearer memories of the trip and since I write about each day, it made me be more descriptive in choosing the words to relay what the electronic toy would have done. I found could be and stay in the moment, which is EXACTLY why I ride... it's for me and not an audience. I know everyone is different but this was my experience. Safe travels and I hope we cross paths.
