South Florida was and still is the Mecca of powerboats! They're designed and built and raced here!

Wow great video bsuch wonderful boats. What pleasure we get from them too. I have to say my favourite is the cat with the twin red band towers of power. They were really something else in their day.

this was our 7th year of this event in 2015. We got up to 11 years in 2019 and then Covid came along, and we have not had one since. This 2015 year was the best turnout year.

@@Powercat46 That's not him, but I can certainly see if he knows who that is and get back with you. Dave is 94, but he's still firing on all cylinders. ; ) Dave and Carl were very close.

I was lucky to be able to run this race in the time frame of this video and recognized a number of my friends. I finished in the top 8 or so a couple of years on borrowed equipment. I borrowed a pair of Mercury outboards on Friday the day before the start. One was frozen up and I completely rebuilt it that evening replacing the crankshaft. Got a few hours sleep and started the next AM. Neither engine missed a beat the entire race!

that's one fast boat and rides like a Cadillac while doing it not bad for a 1959 model boat
@sammyboswelldirtybrc75806 жыл бұрын
these boats where made back when they made them to last not throw away boats the reason I know this is i own one with a v6 and the one with the twin v6s would give most modern boats all they want and more like danny said there made for speed
@Powercat466 жыл бұрын
The old inlines are fine up to 60 mph. Beyond that it takes a v6 to get the extra speed. These boats have all been modified for speeds above 80 mph
@Powercat466 жыл бұрын
They are built to take it, no need to worry!
@michaelteeple87046 жыл бұрын
After watching i can say the old inline merc. Is all they need. The set up looks sketchy with a v6
