You gained a followers with your easy to follow step by step instructions, no extra frills (love “frills”) just don’t have the time to watch a 45 minute video, so THANK YOU!

So you take a paper sheet that you have printed on and press it with heat im not sure to understand
@stacyodesignsАй бұрын
This is done with sublimation. It is a whole different process than regular inkjet printers. This is printed with sublimation ink with a converted Epson printer onto sublimation paper. Then pressed onto Oracal 651 vinyl.
@LanceMcGrew2 ай бұрын
So it is more of a time and temperature rather than amount of pressure that produces good results?
@stacyodesignsАй бұрын
It's a mix truthfully. It also depends on your press. Mine tends to run a little hot. Sublimation in general has pressure sweet spot. Too mcuh and you burn. Too little and not even pressure. You have to test it for your conditions.
@clairecolchester73452 ай бұрын
Can this method be used on a mug please?
@stacyodesignsАй бұрын
I would not recommend it. Polycrylic is not food safe. Go with either a sublimation coated mug, or try out the UV DTF transfers. They're amazing, can go on any hard surface and wash great.
@Itsallfaux2 ай бұрын
Cardboard paper, 20 seconds 177 centigrades very high pressure does the best job. Also with cotton canvas you get the matte and fibers texture.

Thanks - I really want to LOVE this. I'm going to try your method.

Great tutorial . Thanks for all the great information. Which one was the softest for wearing on a shirt but also had a great colour. I see that Easy subli had the best coverage but it looks really think and bulky. I have a shirt to make for Line Dancing on a Black shirt. I don't want it to be stiff. Thanks in advance for your help and will continue to watch your videos for more tips.
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. I would stay go with easy subli or flock. That being said, create your design so there is negative space. That helps with the feel and wearablity. You might also consider traditional DTF transfers - but again, with negative space. Any design that is a big block on top of HTV ill feel weird to wear.

Wash....?
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
:( At first it was great. After about 4-5 washes I started to notice a bit of blurring and dye migration in the white areas of the image.

Hi . Thanks for this video. Sorry for my question. Im just wondering if i can just use a plain white htv first then my image on sub paper?
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
Regular HTV will not take sublimation ink. The HTV in this video are eithe made for sublimation or have enough polyester in them that sublimation works.

Will leaving 5 or 6 rollers on each side still avoid roller marks on full sheet print or just printed images spaced where rollers are removed? What about the 11 x 17 printers - removing outside 5 or 6 rollers mess things up when printing 8-1/2 x 11?
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
It kind of depends which of your rollers drag. Mine were right in the middle. That being said, I have no issues with switching back and forth from DTF film and sublimation paper.
@LanceMcGrew3 ай бұрын
8:29 what are the visible dark streaks? Doesn't look like they are on top the film but still visible. Your efforts to document are greatly appreciated. Amazing clarity and attention to detail is spot on. - thank you!!
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
I just looked back, and you might be referring to the black ink at the very top? That is where the masking tape is that I taped a regular sheet of paper to the film to help it feed through my printer.

Can you use an adhesive spray

An adhesive spray to hold the sub paper on, as opposed to heat tape? Absolutely!

I have dome some sublimation on white tshirts and it look like a sticker, is it nornal?
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
Looks like a sticker or FEELS like a sticker? It shouldn't feel like anything is on the shirt. I should look exactly how you design it. *If a customer comes to me asking to create a shirt with a big rectangle image (like a photo) I like to add some distressing around it so it doesn't look like a 'sticker'.

@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
Well,......after the first wash, there was no change. I would say by the 3rd, it started getting a little blurry. Since then, there has been significant dye migration in the white areas. :(

Can you use this same process on a black shirt and if not can you do a video with a black t shirt ty
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
This process does not work on black fabric. It basically has all of the same properties as traditional sublimation, except you can press onto a higher cotton count shirt. So no need for high polyester count. But still must be white/light and doesn't print white ink.
@Karolynn3363 ай бұрын
So you can sublimate on top of the the HTV and it not ruin it?? I wasn’t sure at first. Thank you for this video

siser dtv sucks. To everybody who thinks it is the greatest thing since peanut butter and jelly it is not . No matter what I do I get peel before I wash the shirt. I talked to siser and they suggested transfer pillows. That failed too. Everybody shows how great it is but what they don't tell you is transfer does not stay adhered to the fabric. I tried it grocery totes and after three or 4 uses of the bag the corners are lifting. I then tried it on 100% cotton shirts and I got peel on the corners which spread to more and more unsticking. I reapplied the transfer but was not successful since it was stuck to fabric but later over time it peeled. I bought some sublimation files from a company on esty and used my heat press. Perfect results. I gave up on siser dtv. Not worth the money for failed results.

Great video! Can the same method be used with a more intricate design with multiple pieces held together on the easysubli mask?
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
not really. The mask would pick up the pieces from the print side. You would need to peel each part off of the film and lay in on the sub transfer - print side down.

How was the hand feel on the design itself? Did it feel "plastic-ey" or "rubbery" ?? Thanks for your review.
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
On this particular design - it was very soft. Definitely didn't feel plasti-ey. But a large block image might. I always try to have some negative space in a design to avoid that feel.
@ultraviolet7343 ай бұрын
@stacyodesigns thank you ! And I am learning that too - leaving negative space. I guess the only method that allows you to make large design without that plastic or rubber feel is silkscreen.
@stacyodesigns3 ай бұрын
I love the way silkscreen feels- but its limiting. I just got a DTG shirt printed and it feels like sublimation! Its a big block image and you can barely feel it at all.

Things I wish I had known before I started my crafting journey: I wish CRICUT would allow you to PRINT THEN CUT on the full page. And why can’t we SAVE OUR PROJECTS TO OUR OWN COMPUTER as well as to Design Space cloud storage?

Instead of peeling the paper, soak it in water for maybe 2 hours to soften the paper and then scrub the paper off.
