Also worth mentioning using AIM7 in TWS - selected target will be marked with GOSTT on the hud, warning that upon launch the radar will stop searching while tracking.
@echovictordcsworldАй бұрын
Correct, GO STT tells the pilot to enter Single Target Track mode to ensure the missile has the best tracking available

Thank you for your video! Unable here to get the SLAM camera active. I am only trying in TOO mode. Basically the timer does not start. Do I always need to have the datalink pod onboard to get it working? Because I am flying with a fuel bag instead.
@echovictordcsworldАй бұрын
Yes, unfortunately you need to have the AN/AWW-13 Datalink pod to have the video active. This acts almost like a "WiFi" between the plane and the SLAM to send the video. Also, make sure to select WEP -> The weapon you are firing to link the datalink pod and missile together. Hope this helps!

Love this format! What do you recommend as the burst height for these CBUs? I was surprised to see you used 2600, that seems like it would be too dispersed to do any damage but it seemed to work on those targets.
@echovictordcsworld2 ай бұрын
Thank you! I usually use around 2k ft for targets fairly close together, any higher and it won't do much damage to individual targets, and any lower you don't get the benefit of using a CBU. Good question though

Very precise and clear information, just the right amount of it. And the visuals are wery well done, the highlighting of the different parts is just on point. It shows there´s quite a bit of work behind it. The result is one of the best tutorials out there. Thank you for sharing and great work. The Hornet is so smooth to fly and operate, and its range of capailities is incredible.

about the cluster bombs - what about the AUTO mode? Every time I tried setting it up with manual selection of disperse height, it pops always way to high, missing the target by 2-3 own splash areas.
@echovictordcsworld3 ай бұрын
The current version of DCS has badly modelled CCRP (Continuously Computed Release Point) calculations with cluster bombs. It is using the model for the cluster bombs that have bomblet ballutes on for the CBU-99 that doesn't have the ballutes. This results in the computer anticipating the bomb needing to fall further, resulting in the bomblets landing much further than expected. I did some testing and got exactly the same results as you. For this reason, a shallow dive angle with CCIP will almost always work better. Thanks for the comment!
@magnitudefallout39443 ай бұрын
So basicly there is no way to employ clusters against defended areas by AAA or IR, since you are forced to dive in... that's the DCS I know alright. Thanks for that info

@@echovictordcsworld btw as a side question, does ur F-4 get falcons? or only aim-9s?
@echovictordcsworld3 ай бұрын
The DCS F-4 is modelled on the newer -E variant that only had Sparrows and Sidewinders. The Falcon was only ever used on the older -D variant, so isn't in DCS on our F-4. I'll hopefully be making videos for the F-4 after finishing my F-18 series, so stay tuned!

It is worth nothing that now (August 16th, 2024) you cannot change the LGB codes in the air. While you can use the UFC to input a "new code", this doesn't actually change the code of the bombs. If you want to have different codes, they need to be changed on the ground.
