Some small gi's in that training room! That's a pet peeve of mine. Your pants and jacket are thereabouts on or just past the line of an illegal size for competition. Your pants especially are almost pulled up at the knee when you're flexing your leg in guard. Guy in the white gi, who's rolling with the purple belt wearing the black gi in the foreground, is even worse. His sleeves were coiled at his elbow at times! Gi's that small are too tight on the person to latch onto reliably, and they get pulled back such that grips at the point of the wrist or ankle are impossible because they simply aren't there. "A Gi for thee but not for me". Probably should get the belt tied too before starting. If his belt is accessible to you but yours isn't to him, then you'll have a huge advantage in control over him that he won't have over you, for both the ground and (especially) the standing positions.

I know nothing about BJJ. But why don't people just stand up? This seemed very odd coming from a realistic fighter perspective. Is this normal or just an exercise?
