You also don’t actually need to do varres quest to unlock mohgwyn palace, there’s another way to get there much later in the game

Great review. Regarding alchemy it was quite held belief at the time since modern pharmaceutics is far off. Herbal medicines derived from plants were quite commonly used at that time, think opium poppy or other hallucinogens or Ephedra that has derived many modern medicines too. Stimulants are often used in war time like amphetamines in both world wars for alertness that could indicate some gameplay mechanics. I think it also diverse the gameplay, because if something is really hard you can try sneaking and poisoning their food or using potions to gain an edge in combat if you struggle too much. The benefits from stimulants or medicines numbers wise is just the end point of numbering progress. Real life doesn't have clear levels. Of course belief and placebo could have an effect too.

“For real!?” Was my exact reaction the first time I fought him. Parrying makes the fight much easier. His 5 attack combos and then a delayed charged attack are horrible.

I think goty should go to space marine 2. Ill justify it. First of all, its the first bloody good 3rd person shooter in some time. The lore has been closely follwed, not completely but closely. Another reason being the graphics and storyline have been best in the 40k universe games till date. With wukong thing is, it has like a 90 percent chinese player base so if you take them out it did not live up to the expectations with the rest of the world. Space marine 2 is like john wick series. Nobody thought it would perform but it is surpassing expectations far better than estimated. Additionally, it was high time 40k universe got a high performance game. And it has brought back memories in most millenial gamers about how good 3rd person shooters used to be. That should count.

It’s like ac6, it’s a really good game, but action shooters don’t win game of the year anymore, but it will probably win “action game of the year” in the same way ac6 did, like realistically goty will probably go to Wukong and I haven’t even played the game I can just tell already by the attention it’s gotten, nothing else has really compared to that this year, besides shadow of the erdtree coming out. And don’t get me wrong Space Marine is good, it’s just too niche but it’ll still get awards in its own right like I said

AC6 couldn't really hold a candle to Elden Ring though if they were out the same year. It was great but it didn't really deserve GOTY compared to BG3 or even Alan Wake 2 (which is a shooter).

And adding to that WuKong's popularity is massively overblown by the 90% Chinese player base. The game is good, but it's not great: it would have been destroyed by the past 3 years of game awards. Helldivers had better performance numbers than Wukong with that consideration that it really isn't that popular without it. But thankfully: the popular opinion doesn't rule all when it comes to media awards. Most gamers are morons when it comes to opinions.

@@lokennzBecause the Last Emperor is objectively better on both fronts, despite being less popular. That's just the nature of entertainment media, quality doesn't always mean popularity is the be all end all - thankfully: because the popular opinion is often stupid as hell. If predator had come out a year before: it would have lost to Platoon. A year later: Rain Man and Die Hard. If Space Marines came out last year: it would have lost to Baldur's gate and Alan Wake (and probably Hi-Fi Rush or Armored Core in some categories.) This year, the competition is: Wukong (which has been overblown due to it's HUGE Chinese audience and overly political bandwagons yapping about it. More than 90% of its player base was geolocated to Asia. It's reception feels equal to SM2) Helldivers (which has had a bumpy live service) Animal Well (personally I'm hoping this one wins) Maybe Astro Bot. MAYBE the Indiana Jones game (although it releases too close to TGA)

In power armor yes, outside of the armor they are around 9-10 feet tall. a primarch is their gene father and each one was even bigger, around 12-13 feet tall. Some space Marines are outliers being almost primarch sized even as a normal astartes.

Operations mode in Space Marine 2 is a very cool addition to the game. Hop online with two other players and complete missions that help the characters in the main storyline with your own customized Space Marine. For the Emperor Brothers!
