Konami's PES ran on the shared Metal Gear engine and the DNA is in the HUD interface that's why also the high IQ opponent team AI (timeproof) was good for a PS2 soccer game. No one beat Konami in the PS2 in early 21st century. R*, EA, THQ etc took influence. Engine was golden.

What a game engine was insanely advanced, clearly Konami had the most intelligent game engines. I just remember the AI in Metal Gear Solid 2. For a soccer game alone this was a simulator that increased the interest in the sport. PES is ahead it’s time. Even todays FIFA or the new PES games don’t match this level. The sounds and visual here are very similar to Silent Hill 2 menus. Plus the soundtracks were absolutely a masterpiece.

El primer gran PES fue el 4, tanto en jugabilidad, como a la hora de evaluar los jugadores. En el PES 3 regalan los 99s.

Only the stats for the top players resembled their real-life counterparts. The rest were mostly random.
