You did fabulous and I hope that you got an A in your brass class. I hope that you stuck with playing the trumpet because you are a natural at it. Trumpet will immensely help your singing voice as well. I also play trumpet and sing. I love it. Best of luck to you on your musical endeavors. Well done 👍

I've only just seen the show and the song, especially Lorna's version, is absolutely one of the best pieces of film music I've heard in a long time. Those harmonies, the soul choir, the modulations just give me chills everytime. Coupled with some epic storytelling and great characters, Agatha is in my opinion one of the best Marvel shows I've ever seen.

I play: Bass, double and fretless electric. Hammond organ Some guitar Chromatic harmonica I bought a Cgriff chromatic accordion march 2024. The Cgriff RH is like a totally new instrument in addition stradela bass. It is so clever but the logic is different compared piano keyboard. But it is smarter and symetrical. I took a couple of hours nd 10 months to get to a level where dared to take it to jazz jam and play Cjam blues and not totally suck. Just suck…. I am 65 btw. You can teach old dogs new tricks.

Nice progress man, I started as a child and never actually realized that it is difficult to learn. Props for getting the basics down, but i have to say lessons are the key to master any instrument including the trombone. If you really want to have some progressive songs to play try 40 progressive etudes from Sigmund Hering its an amazing book which starts easy. At the end you will have a grear starting point for playing a lot of songs!

I was already into this song before I found the time to watch the show, but the stuff they did with the song in lore of the show is magical. From Nicholas singing it for fun, to Agatha exploiting it for her witch-baiting evil to Billy manifesting it. A great story telling idea that they also managed to get somebody to write an awesome song to serve.

Too bad you found a teacher that required you to BUZZ a mouthpiece first. That is the WORST approach. Most trumpet teaching is compulsory buzzing nonsense. Pathetic,
@therealalexpoole29 күн бұрын
That’s for the positive feedback
@darryljones920829 күн бұрын
@therealalexpoole Im sorry. I feel bad for eager students taught by those who think that buzzing is the correct way to approach it. Seek a teacher who does not require that, and you will benefit. You could have a much better tone right away should you been shown the correct way. Now, it will be difficult to change your habits . It's possible if you take a better approach. Congratulations on your enthusiasm. But there is a better way.

Further question, what is your natural/happy singing range. I’d guess Tenor-baritone, but I’m not sure how at your depth so maybe pure Tenor. As someone whose vocal range has constantly adjusted all my life (I’ve been retrained that many times its got ridiculous) from my youthful High Soprano through all the steps to my current Baritone voice. The stage I enjoyed the most was the Tenor/Tenor-baritone transition as I found it had the nice depth of quality but I could still soar when needed.

Concentrate a bit on eliminating that breathy sound to your tone. I was able to make progress on that by using lip tension. Play like you have a straw between your lips and you're squeezing down on the straw. But (and this is important) keep your jaw open. Leave space between the teeth on your upper and lower jaw. Not only will you get a less breathy tone, but it'll take less air and you'll be able to play longer notes. The air that goes in to that breathy sound is all lost air. Don't confuse the lip pressure with higher notes, you can get higher notes with air speed (arch the back of the tongue) and vibrating a smaller section of the middle of your lips. Note: I'm only 3 months in to re learning to play after a 30 year hiatus and I was only a beginner when I quit in the 90s. So take this advice with a grain of salt.
