Yeah I agree too. All DLCs, Expansion Packs, Remakes and Remasters should each have their own category rather than being nominated in already existing categories. What makes it even more worse is that there was actually a category called “Best Remaster” which was used in 2014, but after that, that category became discontinued in later award shows.

Awards shows in general are a joke, they are nothing more than ego trips. Besides what’s really the best and all that is HUGELY subjective anyway. It’s something I eventually came to realize on my own about the Oscars and how that applies to pretty much all award shows too.

Shadow generations in my opinion would deserve to be ranked on its own with no influence from the remaster included with it. It deserves it imo because it’s a completely new campaign and I don’t think it deserves to not be included just because it’s attached to a remaster. But dlcs, expansions and especially remasters with no major new content should have there own category.

That can only mean now this is just speculation but perhaps shadow of the erdtree is in the running for Game of The Year. What do you guys think

The integrity of the GOTY awards have been thrown out a long time ago and it's only become more apparent in the recent years. Now it's just another marketing event.

While I can see reason for DLC expansion stories are fine, and sometimes full on remakes the greatly differentiate from originals. But remasters, ports, and legacy collections should be their own categories and not nominees for GotY. I love Paper Mario TTYD, but I will agree that's a 2004 game and not a 2024 game. There was a leaked image, and these appear to be the nominees. I'm hoping half the list is fake. The Last of Us 2 Remastered Concord Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree Stellar Blade Persona 3 Reload: Episode of Aegis Spongebob Squarepants: A Patrick Star Game WTF kind of list is this? Only 2 games deserve the spot and only one if it weren't for the DLC rule. No one wants TLOU2 to be the winner again, especially after the worst GOTY choice in history. Freaking Concord should be nominated for worst games of the year, not best. Persona 3 is a great remaster, but Metaphor Refantazio should be here instead if they're going to give an Atlas game a nomination. Persona 3 and SMTV: Vengeance should be their own categories for reasons above. And Patrick Star, it's a pretty alright game, but how the heck was that nominated? Where are all the other games that could have been nominated and great contenders? Black Myth Wukong is a crazy popular game. Agreed, it's overrated for what it is, but the real catch was how successful it was despite the small company that made it. And it still beats half the list here. Astro Bot, freaking Astro Bot; the best Playstation exclusive game in years and first ever PS5 exclusive to be even half as good as games like Super Mario Odyssey. How was that not nominated? The aforementioned Metaphor Refantazio, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (Oh wait, that's right. TGA has a hate boner against Nintendo for preferring to announce games independent from TGA). But still, it looks set up to give Elden Ring the easy win. I just hope the image leaked on Discord was fake.
