By code your only need to use 1 clamp at the beginning of the manifold before any splits. This way is more expensive and serves no extra benefit. It looks nice though.

why doesn't flexible gas connectors need to be bonded like csst gas pipe
@KRich408

No metal is supposed to be visible! The yellow jacket was cut back too far!!! It's supposed to be Bonded on the Brass connector not the CSST itself, if I was buying a house and saw this I would Run as fast as I could! Yes it's supposed to be Bonded but correctly, not the case here, the ProFlex instructions are very clear and simple to read regardless if you have black iron pipes or cast if you have Gas service LP or NG gas detectors are a Must I have 4 of them 2 in my basement one in my kitchen and one in the basement stairwell. And their mounting location is important also NG rises up LP falls to the floor, the detectors need to be where the gas will wind up.

Did you run the ground wire back to the panel? What size ground wire is required. You did answer some of my questions about bonding each line thank you.

How does the CSST actually get grounded this way? It is sealed and held in place by an O ring on one side, and a felt washer on the other - neither of which are conductive. Genuinely asking here, as I installed CSST in my house, tested it for leaks, and would love to ground it if possible.

Homeowner currently installing Homeflex CSST here...All the fittings I have include a metal retainer ring that goes around the stripped stainless tubing and creates metal to metal contact between the flange nut, tubing and threaded pipe fitting. Considering this and the instructions state that the clamp can be attached to the black iron pipe in the system, I don't think it's necessary to bond EVERY junction of CSST, as the video suggests. A dedicated electrical ground, aside from what may be provided by the exterior gas line, should be sufficient.

Maybe 8 years ago at an IAEI continuing education class we were told every manufacturer of CSST has their own defined method on how they want you to bond their tubing. Saw a plumber install this flimsy POS tubing at top of very thin maybe 2.5" high baseboard the entire length of a basement rec room to feed a corner fireplace. Homeowner was concerned because flimsy tuning had dents in it due to vacuum c!saber banging into it. Plumber only had to run a bonding jumper from cold water pipe to steel gas pipe at opposite end of the house to get it passed. No bonding wire on the 25' of CSST. Told the homeowners to get another plumber to replace POS CSST dented crap with schedule 40 steel pipe and paint it.

I am no gas expert but are you sure you have to bond every one of those pipes where the yellow gas lines are going? Couldn't you just Bond the main copper gas line?

It’s my interpretation of the code. I understand what you are saying. Yes if 1 is bonded ALL should be bonded. I bond all. I do what I think is best. The NEC is minimum requirements. Hope it helps. Also they are making a black flexible pipe that is not required to be bonded, just FYI! Thanks for viewing! Joey

The only place I see this in writing is the NYS Gas Code. NEC 250.104B states likely to become energized. That means a appliance that uses gas, not a lightning strike.

I put this out to make people aware that bonding is required. Some justifications require different things Also the NEC is minimum requirements Anyone can do above and beyond requirements. These items are sometimes confusing! Bottom line YELLOW CSST REQUIRES BONDING Thanks for viewing Joey

i am not an electrician but i had an issue where i had to do this to a ceiling , the joists ran perpendicular to where i was trying to run my wire. there is no"fishing it over" had to drill through the joists . good thing is it was a pretty simple dry wall repair. i think in the future i will just cut the section in question down a straight line and put in new sheet of dry wall instead of using some paint sticks and dry wall screws to fix the holes .

Joey, though you have a wonderful demonstration it would have been better and more informative if you would have had Alicia do a "close-up shot" of the equipment meters. By doing this the viewer would understand when you said, "the break is indicated when the "arrow" points backwards". What arrow? Backwards to what? I notice it has been 6 years since this video was posted perhaps you can do a remake video with better explanations.

your hired come find my broken wire rotorua, new zealand..... i have a serious problem just moved into a new house ... awesome double garage but the problem is. I think the previous owner was a bit on the dodgy side and has hooked up the wiring bad, Basically theres no power in the shed.. we had a electrician come have a look and he was so puzzled at why there was continuity but no actual power.... My question is whats a way of tracking this wire to if its broken some where .. now i dont got $$ or expertise on that neat gadget you have.. any tips to finding this problem...

Nice film on cable fault locating. I'm thinking that Metrotech 810 could find a fault like that, since the break is clean through and the signal should drop off right after the break.
