The female vocalist's name is Jarboe. She is amazing. She made a duet double-album with Gira called "The World of Skin". Highly recommended. Changed my life.

Panis et Circenses is (somewhat bad) latin for Bread and Circuses. They were part of tropicalia Movement in Brazil, meant to adopt and adapt foreign influences, mainly in Rock in brazillian music.

I would say to always spend more time with the lyrics on a Fiona album. After your initial listen. The lyrics are AMAZING and she has penned some of the most amazingly beautiful songs EVER.

If you like fleet foxes, highly recommend Arcade Fire :)

"Bad tattoos on leather tan skin, jesus christ on a plastic sign" for some reason is nice to listen to, lol. I also LOVE the girl, so confusing with Lorde, I understand not liking Apple, for me it was a grower, I didn't like it so much at first. The one song I still don't really love because of the lyrics is mean girls, I just don't vibe with the lyrics.

This is the kind of production that I really love. The static sort of gives it a musique concrète kind of feel, and even some of the faster/heavier tracks sort of have a lo-fi type of vibe. Great work

Sonically is very interesting too. B2B she talks about building muscle up (as the heart) and the sound is made out to evoke a heartbeat (also, back to back is lingo for when DJs play a set together In Think about it all the time the sound is set to resemble a ticking clock, to say "hey, time is running out" There's an interview in which she talks about the arrangement in 365 represent a night out at the club (she's at the lounge, then goes to the bathroom, to another room and them lets it all out on the dancefloor) Though very simple at first listen, getting into these details makes it more complex and interesting, apart from all of the 2000's revival

This one of those albums you have to listen to a lot to the get the ideas and flesh them out in your mind and that goes for the musical elements as much as the lyrics.

This album has (unexpectedly) become one of my favorite Swans albums, ever. "Celebrity Lifestyle", "Mother_Father", "Blood Promise", "Telepathy" and the title track are completely transcendental and impeccably produced.

I'm so pleased you decided to delve into Joni Mitchell's catalog. Joni is a deep thinker and unparalleled at painting word pictures; she's the consummate storyteller. This album, along with Blue has been in my rotation since it came out. As with all music, you've got to be in a certain frame of mind. Hissing of Summer Lawns is so rich, complex, layered and deep, reflecting Joni's own experiences and world view as an astute observer of human nature. And, she hasn't been afraid of shining the light on her own human frailties. To gain deeper insight into her mind, listen to some of her extended interviews. Not nearly as well known, but an equally deep thinker and musical innovator, is Patricia Barber. You may want to check out some of her work, including Cafe Blue, Modern Cool, Nightclub and Companion.

Burning World is a great album. It gets a bad wrap bc it is the most mainstream album the swans ever made. The album marked a clear change in the bands music. The Swans variety of sounds and musical approaches is just brilliant as the band openly experimented with different sounds. This is one of the most creative and experimental band I know of.

One of my fav

One of my favourite Tori albums, its alot to take in listening to 18 tracks in one go, i learned to love it initially listening in three parts - Amber Waves to Crazy, Wampum Prayer to I Can't See New York, Mrs Jesus to Gold Dust. Couldn't drop one track. It's a masterpiece.

The first time I listened to this album all the way through the drum outro on "Apostate" sounded like a severed head tumbling down a metal schute at 100 miles an hour

I grew to be a bigger Madonna fan with her 1998 album "Ray Of Light" - great introspective album about motherhood, spriritualism, grown wiser into her 40 birthday going new experimental electronica ways for her future music :)
