This type of thing makes me angry. Why are manufacturers allowed to package products in a way that impacts the environment? Why are we, the purchaser made to feel that we have to solve the problem made by the maker? IT's BS.

Good tip on the knife incision technique. I've been doing a circular cut all the way round til these but that looks far more effective 👍

Thanks for showing your process so clearly. In some places, the plastic cup part is permitted in the plastic recycling bin.

They do now make bio version which is compostable, and I was brought here as am looking at buying a s/s reuseable pod however I have been doing this for years and a little tip from me is to let the coffee fully dry for few days before doing it. I also have a slightly different technique by slicing around the edg of the capsule and removing foil that way. Great to see someone else is doing this also!

Far too much single use plastic in the world. You need to remove all traces of coffee from plastic before the recycling depot will accept them! Instead, always use permanent RE-FILLABLE pods (stainless steel or plastic are available) that can accommodate compostable paper filters that prevent sludge entering your cup or mug and also reduce acidity to boot. Move on, nothing to see here.

I do this at home too, but it would be so much better to not buy the pods at all.. so I'm giving up my machine after this final batch of pods I currently have...

Goodonya mate . Coffee grounds can be composted or put in a worm farm .

I respect your effort & I'm sorry to bearer of bad news. The foil isn't recyclable as it has a plastic layer on top for the branding so to separate it from the actual foil is way to expensive especially on something so minute which is impossible. Nor are the plastic pods (just like plastic which grapes, peaches etc come in) as the plastic recycling bin only recycles bottles we're even advised to take plastic screw on tops & dispose of them in the normal refuse bin as they're not recyclable either. Nonetheless the grounds of course can be so I shall be following example on that one.

You are right, too many brainless people publishing useless and misleading presentations. All traces of food must be removed from plastic before it goes in a recycling bin. And yes, aluminium is a problem. The obvious solution is to use refillable pods - but dummies never think of the obvious!

@@return2earthvideochannel can you advise where I can get refillable pods from please because I'm one of them dummies ;). It could be very useful for future use instead of buying these useless one time pods

I know in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia my council doesn't take them. Ive always taken the coffee out for the garden but sadly the rest went in the bin :-(. I try to use my stove top coffee machine when I can so as not to use the pods. You can buy a stainless steel reuseable one but make sure its for the right machine as I bought one secondhand from someone and it was for a different model amodo mio and it buggered my machine up! I was told it would be fine for my machine and it wasn't! The girl was kind enough to refund my money but now my beloved amodo mio minu won't pierce the disposable pods so I can't use it anymore :-(. Its just a large milk frother now! boo hoo.

If you go to all this trouble to recycle your pods, why not go to all the trouble to make proper coffee in the first place?! And being as we've seen in recent reports, a lot of the plastic we put out for recycling still doesn't get recycled, I simply can't see how this ludicrous use of plastic can in anyway be justified.

Yes, I do that. Follow his instructions for foil removal, pack with coffee and use aluminium foil, approx 20 mm larger than the pod diameter and wrap it tightly around the edges. (I use a square piece with no problem)
