Lyrics She she she she only ever ver ver ver ver Walks to to count count her steps, Eighteen teen strides and she stops to abide By the law that she herself has set. That eighteen steps is one complete set, And before the next nine right and nine left. She looks up up at the blueeeeeee, And whispers to all of the above. Don't let me drown, don't breathe alone, No kicks no pangs no broken bones. Never let me sink, Always feel at home, No sticks no shanks and no stones. Never leave it too late, Always enjoy the taste, Of the great great great grey world of hearts. As all dogs everywhere bark bark bark bark It's worth knowing, Like all good fruit, the balance of life is in The ripe, and ruined.

I used to 100% avoid this song whenever I was listening to Bastille, because it terrifies me 😅, it did to a point that I had a nightmare and this song was the "soundtrack", a song that played the moment I got caught by a cult 💀

Returning to this wonderfully beautiful song at 31, remembering the first time I heard "Other People's Heartache." I think I was around 19 at the time, and I was already in love w their first album/had been hearing Pompeii nonstop on the radio. But discovering this project was so impactful for me. It helped shape the own music I make and it's what kickstarted my love for Twin Peaks (and other Lynch stuff by extension). It's by far my favorite of theirs, and honestly, one of my favorite projects in general. Wish it was avaioable on streaming.

Man okay, this is me right now actually. I think tumblr introduced me to this song when I was 16, my dad had died that same year, and the haunting slow melody just fit the awful melancholic hole I was in at that time. And then I watched twin peaks and it was so slow and weird but it got me SO INTO David Lynch. And now with his passing I’m doing a rewatch, which got me back here, at 30. And man between the mourning of my favorite artist, the memories of mourning my father, and the haunting melody in the intro, i cried and cried and cried that first episode, and im so so invested in this show again. Had to hunt this down and show my husband, who is blown away by how much these bits of media mean to me and I’ve never brought it up until now. And then we both got teary eyed because my first listen to this song as a teen was after a loss, feeling the loneliest I’ve ever felt, and my first listen as an adult is with someone I love, who makes me feel whole again. And ughhhhh I’m just going crazy over it.

Sorry for the long tirade, I just re-fell in love with Bastille / Dan Smith again so I’m happy to see he’s shaped many other people like he did for me 💗💗

This is so catchy but I kinda hate it too, I really hope Bastille doesn't actually endorse this message. The lyrics say "Get up off my feet and stop making tired excuses" but that's easier said than done and sounds really priviledged. This woman doesn't have a choice, if she did she wouldn't have turned to prostitution and stripping. It's easy to say quit doing that, but not as easily done. Kinda pisses me off, actually. Please tell me that isn't the message this song is trying to get across.

I thought those days were not going to end. I will never forget the smell of the grass while the sun shone on my face while I entered the pitch of my football academy as an eleven year old, believing that Neymar and Messi would never age.
