Did you happen to compare the ride of the base cx-5 vs the Premium with larger wheels and tires?
@fatcatscooter2584
@fatcatscooter2584 3 күн бұрын
@t.k.morris yes, the whole reason I purchased the base vs Premium was, first, the price of course, and second, the drivetrain / suspension are exactly the same in both cars. As you point out, only the wheel size is different. The 17" wheels give so much more sidewall rubber that it was smoother (I have a long commute and the RAV4 I had was just uncomfortable). Noticeable difference IMHO between the base and higher trim level so bonus for me! BTW, I love the Car Care Nut KZbin channel BUT, in all his videos he talks about how bumpy the CX5 is, he is totally wrong. Much smother vs the RAV4... but, maybe that is because he's always in the higher trim of the CX5. Bottom Line... better ride, go base trim CX5. Good luck

Good to hear. When the dealer first wanted me to ride it, I was not excited as many many years ago when Lance first got here, they were NOT a good product. The one I rode was solid, big improvement. I run the Phoenix Scooter club and had a few members who owned the first Lance scooters ... so I saw how bad they used to be. Again, they go much better and good price now.

When I called to purchase Club Orange, the HAL representative asked me if I wanted to upgrade. I am in a Veranda room and I am happy with the location and I was concerned about getting upgraded to a less desirable location. If I do it again, I will book a cheaper veranda room and say yes to the upgrade. I recommend you have the deck plan handy when you call to book Club Orange so that you can make a good choice for the upgrade. I chose Club Orange purely for the private dining room.
@fatcatscooter2584
@fatcatscooter2584 5 күн бұрын
Yes, I personally think the "upgrade" is not worth it. We just did Cunard across the pod and our shipmates chose the "they pick the room" with the upgrade. They did not get a room until 10 days before sailing... so stressful, was the exact same one they would have gotten, nothing better, had they spend the $100 or so at the original booking. That said, yes, for the private dining room (on some ships) so very very worth it!!!!

Made in Japan is still the benchmark for quality. I don't care how many videos the AutomotivePress Engineer publishes that say build quality in Kentucky, Alabama, Canada or Mexico is just as good. Choosing the Mazda CX-5 Select that is made in Japan and not an Alabama CX-50 is a smart choice. The Select doesn't have a rear powered lift gate that the Car Care Nut says is a costly repair once those motors go bad. Hopefully you bought a CX-5 that doesn't have the Cylinder Deactivation and i-Stop nonsense.

@cleaningsaturday8972 Great minds think alike! Agree all around. That AutomotivePress Engineer seems like a nice guy but CLEARLY IMHO he is compensated in some way...lol, or he's just a crazy engineer. When I saw the "J" Japan on the CX5 and that the CX50 was made in USA, said to say, it was a no brainer. Yep, just like the Miata (other video I posted) I not only by base care for price but don't want things breaking. My car, the '24 has no Cylinder Deactivation and no Istop nonsense,thank god! And yep, just basic tail gate...don't need someting else that breaks. Car Care Nut rocks.

Interesting that you find the ride on this more comfortable than the Toyota RAV4 because most reviews comment on the CX5’s ride being stiff. Maybe that’s because you got the base model with the smaller wheels which means thicker sidewalls and that helps the ride quality. At any rate, enjoy your new car; it is my favourite in that segment.
@fatcatscooter2584
@fatcatscooter2584 8 күн бұрын
Thanks for the note. Not even close the ride between the RAV4 and the new CX5, that was the MAIN reason I purchased it. 1 hour commute each way on the highway. RAV4 is sooooo loud, and just gets tossed around in the wind, lane keep is way too aggressive. Can't get the wheels to stay balanced, Cloth seats stink... and on and on. @sammyt3514, yes all the reviews DO say the CX5 is stiff but that's not ture. I actually own both cars, was not give cars to borrow. And you are correct, I think 17" Wheels. Again, another reason I went base, lots of sidewall. So glad I sold the Rav4.... I also had 1 recall, and 2 tech bulletins that the dealer would not fix and I had to. I feel Toyota quality is failing. Thanks for writing and I will enjoy. Take care!

Lexus were all sooooo over priced and they are the same company, so I don't trust they are as well made. LOL, thanks. That's exactly why I made it. Let me know if I can help. This car IMHO is bullet proof so no worries there (but change the oil often). Sooo much more comfy vs Toyota. And a lot of the "good brands" are going CVT transmissions to cut costs, forget that. And finally, as much as like Mazda, they have a small advertising budget so obviously they are giving a lot of the youtube stars " fee " cars to use in return for "fair and honest" reviews LOL.... that goes for every new car out there and most brands. I had a miata before this (other video on my page), pretty much everything they make is bullet proof ..... BUT the CX90.... Car Care Nut says it's a No Go. Tell me what happens.

I have the exact same in soul red 2017 Grand Touring and white interior. Easy to keep clean and still looks like new after 7 years. But I find the ride hard on the 19” wheels and the Napa Leather seats even harder. I wish they had more cushioning. Feel tired and get body aches on a 4-5 hour road trip despite ample breaks (but no tiredness in our Ford Maverick with 18” wheels and a softer suspension). I also wish the car had more storage in the front for phones etc. But other than that, I love the build quality, reliability, performance, quietness etc. It has been bulletproof. Do you have 18”? I see a lot of rubber on those rims. Good for you! I don’t know why manufacturers are putting on larger and larger tires on cars these days. Harsh ride, poorer mpg, more expensive to replace, easily damaged…nothing good except it looks and handles slightly better.
@fatcatscooter2584
@fatcatscooter2584 11 күн бұрын
Thanks, I think they are 17" and a lot of sidewall, which I like. I ONLY purchased this car for a more comfortable commute. RAV4 is just not comfortable. I'm guessing you'd find these '24 seats are a bit better than the '17, but I could be wrong. I drive an hour each way to work and need something better. Vs Rav4 this is much much much quieter, smoother (thus the tire size), and seats are 2X better IMHO. Just more plush. Plus, the damn Rav4 transmission hunts and hunts for gears and I know there is an update but all the dears want to charge me $$$ to do it. Just done with Toyota for now. I sold it for a bunch of money, people are putting way too much trust into Toyota, and they are just not what they used to be, again IMHO.

@@fatcatscooter2584 I’ll check out the new Cx-5 seats next time I’m at the dealership. Although I did find the new ‘24 Cx-90 seats equally hard. Glad those 17”s are working out for you! Agreed with the RAV4 observations. Mazda is just so much more premium. I only wish people had the option of choosing smaller wheels on higher trims (like bench/captain seats). But instead you’re forced to pay for 20” wheels with a namesake sidewall. It’s ridiculous.

If the CX-90 has the same type of timing gear and chain as the CX-5 it will last a very long time. In the CX-5, the lower sprocket is in the oil pan so the chain is constantly lubricated. I've also spoken with many long term owners who have upwards of 350k miles on their cars and have never needed to change the chain or gears. I researched cars for over 8 months and chose a 2018 GT model which I bought in 07/2021. I've only changed the oil, and the cabin air filter. A really handy channel I've found for long term reviews was Redriven out of Australia. They give an honest review of how the car drives after 5 years, including expert opinion from a mechanic who goes back in their records to see what problems they have encountered in them and found nothing except for routine maintenance. Australia is a huge market for Mazda. Most of the competition use timing belts which have to be replaced every 50k miles, and have CVT transmissions which are costly nightmares in themselves. A large motoring magazine did a long distance review on a Kia from California to Michigan. Brand new Kia didn't get out of CA before the tranny went crap. Kia said it needed a software upgrade, and even after that, the tranny failed again and they couldn't go any further as the dealer didn't have a tranny and it was going to take at least 2 months to get a replacement.

Complimentary room upgrade is a bit flim flam. If you are in a balcony room and a higher level balcony room is available (same class) they should offer you the upgrade. The problem being perhaps the better room is not on the floor or in the location you desire. And of course, you need to ask when you embark, and be insistent. Regarding priority embarking. Most of the help at the dock don't have a clue and most of the HAL employees are not aware either. If you have Club Orange,just insist that you have priority and move to the front of the line. If your room does not have the correctsized bath robe (or a correct sized plush robe) contact the concierge and tell them what you need. They should make it happen.

Yeah, the Room upgrade is newbie stuff, just pick the room you want, don't let them pick and never let them "upgrade"... too much risk. So funny, we just did Cunard NYC to South Hampton last month and same thing... at the port, the people in Brooklyn are no HAL employees so they TRIED to send us to the wrong line, not the Britanna Club class (which saved us about 30 minutes on line). You've got to pay attention and speak up for yourself. We actually have one person stand in line at the port and the other goes up to do "recon" as they ALWAYS have people who don't know what's what. Not bad people, it's just that the ships depart randomly so not well trained IMHO. Thanks.

Here is a tip but make sure you do this well advanced before your cruise where the cabins are not fully booked. If you booking a cabin that your not fully ok but, want it for the reason of a lower price for example Obstructed view cabin. After that then order for a club orange. Ask the person on the phone after you pay for it about the cabin upgrade, you will get a cabin that is higher within that class so you will get the none obstructed view. We did that today. We book the cruise through our travel agent because AAA offers great extras and such as always for our cruises. Then later on I called Holland and order the club orange and paid for that which was total of 350 for 2 people for a 7 day cruise. Then once that transaction was done. I then asked the lady about the upgrade. She put me on hold to see what was available. We had originally got a normal balcony. She came back and upgraded us to a spa Balcony cabin so not only we get the club orange perks but, also now spa access free with that. Do not try to wait until your cruise to get the cabin upgrade as you will be risking if the cabins that you would normally be upgraded to may not be available then.

How’s the standard radio work? I had a base NC Sport in 2009 and found it was terrific fun. All u need is a manual and the right color!

Thanks! First, bad news, had a bad crash and the car is totaled but I'm fine. Hit by a Chevy 2400 pickup pulling a horse trailer with an animal (ok) in the back. It is one tough car but just too small for me... Now have a dodge Challenger. To answer your question NO NO do not put thought car was (says so in manual). Water WILL get in from the pressure around the soft top seal and can do serious damage to the car... not to mention the paint will scratch easy from the brushes... cheap clear coats on Mazda imho. Yes, gloss black is ugly. Base radio is fantastic.. car is so small does not need much and speakers in head set are fantastic.
