I Shazammed a scene towards the end of Red Dragon and found this super cool song. Love it.😊

Free(ish) jazz is basically a 'live' (i.e. not studio) genre and it doesn't usually merit repeated hearings, but I really think this does. Over the years since I first heard it in the early 1980s I've returned to it again and again. The energy and inventiveness is so exciting. I love the way Chick Corea repeatedly revises the pulse to keep the music moving along.

Letting his baby girl drink wine wasn’t the best decision, but times were different then and he controlled her intake by letting her have just a sip. You can see clearly she loved her daddy. He just was an uneducated musical genius, being the best dad he could attempt to be. I love how she just could bounce around his man-cave and was just listening to him speak to the interviewer.

By this point in history the Lunceford band’s arrangement of “Miss Otis” is pretty obscure. I just need to go on record to say the extreme pep in service of this particular lyric is INSANE
