I dont like the Kata itself.its very repetetive. I just dont see the need for more Kata.

My bro, you know the weirdest part? I also used to thought it has repetitive movements, when watching, thats the impression, but now, practicing it, I think it is one of the coolest katas to practice, because of the variety of movements!!! It may not seem like it, but pay attention, most movements don't repeat themselves, there are feal movements that repeat during the whole kata, like the double strike at the beggining and nihon zuki's in general.

Is this kata open to individual interpretation? I’ve watched several videos showing competitors at elite level and each one is slightly different.

Böyle bir yarismada yani her detaya dikkat edilen bir yarismada nasil oluyorda bu sporcuyla ilgilenen kisi bu sporcunun kiyafetiyle ilgilenmiyor veya dikkate almiyor? Ben bu spor daliyla daha önceden hic ilgilenmedigim halde Ilk dikkatimi ceken sey kiyafetin bu sporcuya hic de hic oturmadigi el kol hareketindeki haraketler detaylar tam olarak gözükmüyor.....birde kaliteli sporculara bakin!!! Bunlara dikkat etmeyen yöneticiler derhal görevlerinden alinmali burada herhangi birisi yarismiyor...Türkiyeye temsil eden birisi yarisiyor. ...bunlardan habersiz olan bu sporcuda hicbir zaman basarili olamaz cünkü digerleri cin gibi yaptigi isi ciddiye aliyorlar....iyi uyumalar Türk takimi!

Se ve muy bien entrenada, más no se aplica este tipo de karate a una pelea real, solo es Kata. Me gustaría aprender a aplicar esos movimientos en combates.

I always wonder why in these competitions the bunkai barely resembles the kata. Just one example (among many) : The jump turning kick is more of chatan yara kusanku. Can someone explain?

There is no meaning. Probably this is forgotten simplification of the Chinese word. In Japan, there is a female name Ohan, but it's a dead end. Perhaps this is a misspell for Okan (royal crown)?

"Ohan" é realmente um kata do karatê Ryuei-ryu. "Ohan" (王貞) é escrito com os kanjis "rei" (王), que significa "rei", e "tei" (貞), que significa "virtude". Esse kata é caracterizado por movimentos fluidos e circulares, e é considerado um dos katas mais avançados do estilo Ryuei-ryu. O kata "Ohan" é composto por técnicas de ataque e defesa contra vários oponentes imaginários e é tradicionalmente ensinado a alunos de nível avançado.
