I love this talk a lot since Fr. Calloway has very real and strong experience of being saved by our Lord through Mother Mary

Finding this discussion today was a direct answer from the Holy Spirit that I begged for earlier today! Corresponded with what my confessor said as well. Thank you so much!

Why aren’t we healing ❤️🩹… because we are not putting ourselves in the position to be healed. If you want to be healed by Christ, he has to touch the wound.

Patrick left out his best way of putting the last point (as I heard it from him 20+ years ago): There is no divinely inspired table of contents in the Bible. Its authority rests upon the magisterium of the Church. You can’t have one without the other.

This is a very informative and relevant discussion. Love to hear a part 2. Please decide on a mutual agreement on the pronunciation of Acedia for clarity. Thank you all for doing this.

Isn't "remaining in his love" but not following his commandments a bit like "being a friend" but not having anything to do with him? How could anyone come up with that?

I was once a lost sheep saying things like that. At the time, I had no idea that I was ‘lost’ and by how much. Jesus found me and I’m back home and wishes to remain in him by striving to be him, especially to others who require more love.

I love the definition you chose to give: “Acedia is the resistance to the demands of love.” I had never heard of this word, yet I’ve been struggling with this my whole life and never really had a word for it. Thank you for this conversation!

I never heard of Acedia - but it's definitely a problem for me. Just now when this came up on my KZbin feed, I was cleaning out Kitchen drawers, preparing to move - but NOT going over the music I have to sing in church tomorrow morning. Just the immediate circumstance.

Oh that is a special video! I was fortunate enough to attend FUS and travel to Austria fall ‘02 (we celebrated a belated 10th anniversary since the year before was canceled due to 9/11) and will be going back to visit in September! This is such a special video!!! Fr Mike was great. Doing this semester abroad is truly life changing in ways I still reap today! Please go if you have the chance!

I do respect priests like Fr. Dave, but this video wasn't well made. In this 2 minute video, the priest spoke about God not being safe, but still good. I don't understand exactly what this means. Why do Catholics settle for sub-standard preaching? Priests should love to preach with all their hearts. Father Mike Schmitz spoke about this same passage from CS Lewis, and he gave a beautiful Sunday homily about the fear of God. Catholic priests really need to put more work into their preaching.

Thank you, Fr. Dave. My friends and I have a greeting and a response that we frequently use, "God is Good" ......... "All the time." Even in my most difficult times, He is there.
