I've never not once seen the GW on the river. On lakes of course. They have walked to the bank and instructed me to paddle over to them to check my license and check if I had fish but never gotten pulled over deep on the river and checked. Glad I saw this vid I'll know to be prepared with the docs deep on the river. 😎👍

I was 6 yo. First fish I ever caught in the Brazos was about a 4-5lb gar. My dad laughed his ass off and that dude finished off my clapped out Zebco 202 I was using. As a first grader it was a helluva event.

Sorry for the late reply. I usually have good luck with a weightless fluke if you are conventionally fishing. If fly fishing, small bait fish patterns or poppers work good.

I have really good luck using a size 16 elk hair caddis with a size 20 black zebra midge hanging off the back. Just up stream from the bridge can be good but down river a good ways is where I usually end up.

I have not fished there in the winter months yet. I usually have good luck on olive zebra midge in size 20. I always stop by Beavers Bend Fly Shop and get some intel and flies. It’s right off the river inside the park.

We put in at the second 377 crossings when leaving Junction. Our take out was at our shuttle service South Llano River Canoe & kayaks. They are right off the river before you get the state park. Give them a call and they can get you set up for a trip. 325-446-2220
