I think Chrissies demeanor and femininity historically betrays her in the memory of those who did not witness her career or do not know her stats. She wasn’t called the Ice Princess for no reason. She was such a steady player at a high level ball placement, awesome footwork and brain game. Some see her as this weak girlish tennis player of ages ago that was known for her looks and exposure in the press than her game. They would be wrong of course. The woman was a titan on the court and one of the all time champions. Btw it is kind of funny in that you can sort of tell who was “there” in real time by those who call her Chrissie and those who call her Chris ;)

Thoroughly enjoyable. Interesting that each matchpoint with a graphite racquet is a winning shot rather than an error - forced or otherwise- by her opponent. Also, look at Evert's footwork. Just exceptional. You also get a sense of those wins that clearly meant the world to her. Also pleasant to see that when both players are at the net, Evert never wildly celebrates her win. Respectful and refreshing.

Lies about saying it, then tries to manipulate them with emotion, pulls woman card later, pulls race card after that… 😂

Not excusing or justifying Serena's behavior here but after watching King Richard I have a better understanding of why she behaved in such a manner on the court.

Serena calls the race card, plays it to the hilt when she is losing. It's why no one likes her. She claims it's the fault of everyone but herself. Naomi Osaka was totally robbed because of her arrogance.

If you notice in nearly every final point ,mitschris who varies the pace and light of the ball, meaning it’s Chris Whois dictating the rally. Often employing a drop shot or shorter ball that in itself leads to an unforced error, winner or passing shot.

"She certainly did not want to win this match in this way." Nonsense. 6-4 and then up double match point 40-15 leading 6-5 in the second set. EVERYONE wants to win that way. That match was over. Clijsters won convincingly. It's not like Serena was defaulted at 2-1 in the first set. And at the beginning the male commentator saying, "Is that necessary?" in response to a foot fault call? Um, yeah, it's necessary. It's one of the rules of the game. If a ball goes out, should a line judge call it in because it was close, and because it just doesn't seem "necessary" to be precise with the rules? Whoever these two commentators are, they're a joke. Totally clueless.

I've been watching tennis for 56 years. I've seen all or parts of 2000+ matches. Strangest ending I've ever seen. It's very interesting to hear Serena say, "Others have said much worse." Just as she did a few years later in the final against Osaka. In addition to saying Carlos Ramos stole a point from her, completely forgetting she already had a warning for breaking a racquet, she was called for getting coaching. Which was illegal at the time. She was getting coaching, so the umpire made the right call. But in her tirade, Serena says the men say much worse things. That's completely beside the point and brings up reverse gender bias. However, it's also another example of her not taking responsibility for her actions and misdirecting blame. It ruined Osaka's first championship and completely upstaged her. Further proof that Serena was the ultimate diva and a poor sport to boot. Any graciousness she might have ever showed was disingenuous.
