Does this apply to the Element as well? I use the Element as carelessly as one can use a cartridge razor, and with it, I get the smoothest, closest shaves. Where as the Genesis had such a loose blade, it was all-out dangerous IMHO. Customer service is excellent BTW.... they checked my Genesis to make sure it wasn't defective and when they determined it wasn't, they said they'd refund me since it was not what I expected. Curious to know about my Element vs.Genesis question..

Thanks for the feedback! the Active Floating Blade feature is present in all our razors.. there is a tiny margin of difference in how much the blade moves around between each model. Glad you like your Element razor!

Hmm. So if we were to believe this animation and you took out all the blades but the front one and shaved with that, you would still have most of your stubble, correct? So why doesn't the front blade cut like the second one? That needs to be explained.

I was so used to using cartridge razors ever since I started shaving. I`ve seen some things about safety razors before, but I never cared about looking into them more. Their design is what drew me in mostly. Once I read the benefits of what they can do, I decided to buy one myself. I was scared of using them at first because of the sharpness of one blade but I went with it. I had to figure out the angle but once I did, I saw a huge difference on my face in a couple of days. It looked way smoother and little to no irritation. Personally, I like taking my time with it. With cartridges, I could go faster but they get dull quick. The safety blades could last a bit longer for me anyway. One of my favorites about them is the dual-sided blade. So, I could use one side for like a week, then the next week I use the other side before replacing just the blade. After using them, going back to cartridge razors feels cheap and not as effective. So worth getting them.

So where the Hybrid had the Genesis head with a different handle, the Element has different material for the head? I’m sure similar in design and execution but not identical because of the material type and production method. I previously tried the Core and could not use it. The Element is better. Would love to see a OneBlade GEM. Feather blades are expensive and honestly just aren’t that great. This will continue to be an area the keeps people from using a OneBlade razor is that you are locked into one blade type and one blade brand, unless you want to fiddle with removing the spine of a GEM blade and shimming it with a blunted FHS blade.
@draebeard8 ай бұрын
With the singular exception of this 'one blade', I have found Feather blades to be fairly uniformly the sharpest blades on the market. I use their DE blades and SE Artist Club blades almost exclusively. I have tried using a de-spined Gem blade backed by a blunted FHS-10 blade (as recommended by Subie Shaves on KZbin), and the result was that it bowed the Gem blade sufficiently as to render it ineffective.
@thatryenguy8 ай бұрын
@@draebeard I wonder what it is with this specific platform (OneBlade) that Feather blades don’t seem to meet expectations when compared to Feather’s DE/SE/AC blades? They are sharp, that’s true, but running the same blade in the OneBlade platform for a second shave and I can tell the blade has dulled and needs changed. That could get spendy. Sucks that the shimming on the OneBlade didn’t work for you. I really like this Element razor so hoping the GEM modification works for me.
@draebeard8 ай бұрын
@@thatryenguy I think it's the angle of the grind. The FHS-10 has a shorter narrower bevel than the Gem. To my knowledge the only other razor that uses that blade is Auto-Strop from the 1920s - 30s. Which begs the question why they even continue to produce them.

The OneBlade is a well designed razor built around the most frail and expensive razor blade on the market. The blades cost $1 a piece and are good for only one shave, if that. If you have a particularly coarse beard (as I do), you can feel the blade degrade before the first pass of your shave is done. The first 4000 of the original OneBlade could be used with a de-spined Gem blade, but they "fixed" that "problem" in all their later models. Gem blades are robust, inexpensive, and readily available; for 25¢ you can shave for a week. Compare that to 1 shave for $1, from a proprietary blade that you can only buy from (you guessed it) OneBlade. One more thing worth mentioning here: The OneBlade Genesis and Hybrid are made from 316L stainless steel, but the Element is made from chrome plated pot metal. If you drop it, it will break. So if you have a peach fuzz beard and lots of money, go ahead and buy one. But if you want a close shave at a reasonable price, the OneBlade Razor is probably not for you. Toodles.
@onebladeshave8 ай бұрын
working on that blade issue you point out! top priority for 2024. As far as the Element material, we're trying to make our unique design available at different price points that reflect the cost of manufacturing and materials used. All OneBlade razors -- Genesis, Hybrid, Core, Element and Dawn -- are backed by a lifetime warranty that includes drops and breaks due to normal everyday use. In our opinion it's a good investment! :)
@onebladeshave20 күн бұрын
Not sure if you saw yet, but our new HiCarbon SE blades were released in September! Would love to see how you find the comparison. We're seeing an average of 4x blade life compared to the FHS, plus they are smoother from the first shave

You missed some basic things. You have less irritation when you use one blade at a time, that is, the DE razors, because you have 1 blade - 1 stroke. When you have 5 blades, it is 5 blades - 5 strokes in one. Of course, you torture your skin 5 times more. And when you have a single blade, a DE blade, it MUST be sharp, or you will notice that is not. When you have 5 blades, they can be all pretty dull, and try to perform their role using their number, not the sharpness. Generally, the multiple blade razors are not as sharp as the double edge blade. It is so logical, they don't need to be, because there are 5 blades, instead of 1. The manufacturer reaches his goal: he offers you 5-7 blades (and you are thrilled, the more the better?) for a big price for each blade cartridge, and he doesn't need to use any super materials for the blades or to make it especially sharp.
