Mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/3 cup cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1/4 tsp salt. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1/2 cup oil, 1 egg, and 1 tsp vanilla. Stir in 1/2 cup hot water or coffee. Fill 12 cupcake liners 2/3 full. Bake at 350°F for 18-20 min. For frosting, beat 1 cup butter, 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 3/4 cup cocoa powder, 1/4 cup cream, 1 tsp vanilla, and a pinch of salt until fluffy. Frost and enjoy!
