Many native speakers mispronounce "pronunciation"...😊

Correct. When I was learning Nihongo in university, it's frustrating to understand our Japanese teacher because she knew very little English. She was saying something in Japanese and we were just trying to guess what she was saying on the board. Even if she made lots of gestures, sometimes we give the correct answer but most of the times, it was impossible. We were just learning vocabulary the whole year. But when the Japanese students visited our school and we toured them around the campus, I was paired with a young man and I communicated with him mostly through gestures, sounds and pointing my fingers here and there. When his head bumped into something, he said: "itte, itte.." with pain on his face.. I understood that the word "itte" means "painful" even if he didn't tell me what it meant. Sometimes, we learn words faster when we just follow and guess a native speaker demonstrating words into actions.

Why do I have to waste so much energy when I can just use short video clips, realia and visual images and audio to let it all do the explanation. When I was in kindergarten, my teacher didn't do so much TPR. Still, I was able to understand what she was saying. Even if I do a lot of action to mean something like a cupcake, the zero learner will never understand me because what I'm doing could mean anything. So it's better to show them realia. That's the shortest explanation you can do to a zero learner. If I have 4 consecutive zero learner in the morning, I'd be so damn tired after that.

Thank for your information. It gives me much useful knowledge about young learners. But some strategies are good for secondary school students!

It would be lovely if there would be a live class between the speakers with some of the kids who have ADHD. The faces of the kids can be covered anyway.

Hey Team! I loved your webinar 💜 Wow - what a power hour and a half with 4 amazing reps at the screen. Sabina, your trick question had me so stressed! I didn't know which to pick only to find out all 4 are correct. Aygul, your sense of humour is so enjoyable. Lisa, you are the perfect student, as always! And Elena, your calm energy held it all together. Great webinar! I couldn't watch live but I have some questions I'd love you to give tips on: 1. Half Level Adjustment - we can only do this after trials, but very often Trial students don't book with their Trial teacher. Can we incorporate some way in the feedback form or level placement system for the Trial Lesson teacher to communicate with the First Regular Lesson teacher that they recommend a half level adjustment? It would be super helpful for teachers and of course beneficial for students. 2. Repeating Levels - what are your opinions and tips for students who have been with NK for a long time, take 2 or more lessons a week and move too quickly through the curriculum? In these circumstances, a Level 0 student can progress to Level 2 before they are ready to read even in their Home Language. As you mentioned, reading is crucial for Level 2. I have a student in mind who has worked through Level 0 to Level 2 - including repeating Level 1, and taking a midway break in Level 2 to do the Let's Chat summer course - before starting Kindergarten. I've adapted Level 2 as much as possible and she's about to graduate to Level 3 but she is only starting to learn to read now and definitely won't cope in Level 3. In these kinds of cases, what would you recommend? Congrats on great webinar again, Claire 🌻
