Squarepusher’s 1997 Central Line was the first Warp track I ever heard and it was like stepping through a portal into a new dimension. Never looked back.

Im listen to this every single day.

I can't believe how modern and crisp this sounds given the time frame during which this was recorded. The rhythm section is sooo 2010's, almost trap-like and at times it sounds almost proto-d&b.

Nobody seems to have mentioned the tapes it was recorded on. There are some seriously good models there !!!

Music like this anyway will get no views on KZbin if the artists are not signed and part of a big network. There are thousands of artists like this, but they get only 13 views per track and will never make it to a label, so there is much more stuff out there, but its nowhere promoted or published in the right way to get any attention.

It makes you think. Aphex and AE were at the top of branching off idm breaks/electro/acid at the same time and there was probably an unspoken truce saying "we're going this way and you go that way to make room for this sound between us so we both make our own imprint ". Or it was just good ole' bangers flying out of the studios like a night time graffiti bombing mission or a breakdancing crew showing their latest moves.
