Istanbul is a fascinating place, isn’t it? So glad Julie and I had a chance to visit.

*I seen this video and said to myself "hey I've been there before" so I just had to click on it and give it a watch. I even read your accompying article on this place as well and to my surprise you and I where both there around the same time.* *Sous Chef Mari Richardson (whom everyone called her Chef Mary) is the best Chef ever and I'm well traveled so that's saying alot. And that was the consensus of the entire group I was with thanks to the attention to detail and quality of the food Chef Mari provided us with at every meal 🤤 it really was the highlight of that entire trip.* *Did you not get the pleasure of interacting with her? I only ask because you didn't mention her by name in your write up if you did. Anyways the group I went with and I was planning a return trip/wedding there until we heard from someone at Carter Creek that she became a Head Chef elsewhere and is no longer there at Carter Creek.*

Hi, thanks for your comment. We really enjoyed our time at Carter Creek. We did not meet the head chef so I’m not sure if Mari/Mary was there or not. We had two excellent servers in Samantha and David and Michelle was our outstanding host for the wine tasting. Carter Creek is a beautiful place and I hope we get a chance to return sometime soon. Thanks again. Safe travels.

@@ScottKendallatPlayStayEat *No problem on the comment your videos really do deserve more interaction (views, likes and comments) tbh.* *But yes the now Head Chef Mari Richardson really spoiled us with her signature "Chef's Table" style of service and approach. It was truly rememberable because of how uniquely personable it was, she has really set the bar high for other Chefs moving forward being real a delight and a skilled gem. Since we were both there at or around the same time she had to have been there still. It really is ashame that you didn't get the chance to meet her for whatever reason.* *Well just a side note after looking at more of your videos from around the same time frame and seeing the other activities that you're into you might want to give Horseshoe Bay Resort or Camp Lucy/Tillies a go if ever in that area again and wanting to try a different place. Both are about 30 minutes away from Carter Creek in 2 separate directions, happy trails to you as well.*
@ScottKendallatPlayStayEatАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I’ll have to check out Horseshoe Bay and see if Chef Mari is still there. I’m a retired tennis coach and we used to have our annual Texas high school tennis coaches convention at Horseshoe Bay. Also, I have been to Camp Lucy for a wedding. Very pretty venue. Thanks for the recommendations and I’ll be sure to check them out.
@JDeal-rq8uwАй бұрын
@@ScottKendallatPlayStayEat*Oh ok I didn't realize you had already been to both Horseshoe Bay Resort and Camp Lucy/Tillie's before since I didnt see any content about them made by you.* *And I'm afraid that you have misunderstood me somewhere, somehow because I never said Chef Mari was ever at Horseshoe Bay but you would be doing yourself a favor if you remember her name in case you come across her on your various travels she is beyond professional. Well thank you for this discourse.*

@@ScottKendallatPlayStayEat The Jondachi and Mishualli in Ecuador, Peshastin Creek, Klickitat, White Salmon, and Green in WA, Antelope Creek and the Lower McCloud in CA, Nolichucky in TN, NF Clearwater and Moyie in Idaho, Blackfoot and Clark Fork in Montana, Yampa/Green and Arkansas in CO, and the Clackamas and Metolius in OR. The most adventurous was the Lacanja in Chipas, Mexico. My home rivers are the forks of the Snoqualmie near Seattle. I've been very fortunate. I met my wife on the Green River in WA when I was catboating and she was leading her students on a kayak run.

@@davidcelliott Dave, impressive list. Looks like you’ve hit some really great rivers. And what a wonderful way to meet your wife. I will actually be in Clackamas in October - I may check out the river although I doubt if I would run at that time of year. Thanks so much for, your information and hope you have many more fun runs.

I've oar rafted a number of rivers out west including the Middle Fork of the Salmon 3 times. My wife and I jumped on a buddies oar raft to do the Royal Gorge run so I could see it before rowing it myself. Right under the RG Bridge one of our rafts got hung up on a rock and yelled for our raft to go to the right but there was not a clear path for us. Our oar raft flipped right under the bridge! Worse swim I've ever had to make while doing many rivers. The four on our raft made it to the side and we worked with other rafts in our group to get it flipped back over and mount up for the rest of the trip. Right after getting home I bought high floatation PFDs (26lbs) for my wife and I. Our 16lb kayak PFDs would not get us high enough in all that white water foam to get a breath. Even with this, it was a fantastic adventure! BTW the guide was great!

Wow! Quite the adventure. Sounds like you certainly have more experience than I do. I’ve run several rivers, and I thought the royal gorge was one of the fastest moving ones thus far. We were on a raft - not sure I would not try it myself in a kayak. 😊 glad you enjoyed it. Safe rafting!

I ran the gorge as an intermediate kayaker. Ran the left side of Sunshine, flipped and got a buddy roll help from Slim Ray. I was surprised at the speed of the water, being from the East.

I was a guide in CO for 5 years, mainly on clear creek, the Colorado and a bit on the ark and guided in a couple other countries. I've watched so many vids of commercial rafting and rarely find myself properly finding a river guide (on video) as good as this fella was. Huge kudos to your guide (and ya'll for being great boaters!). I hope you tipped him well but more importantly, I hope, when you look back on this trip, you acknowledge how wicked good your guide was! Disclaimer: damn near all guides can be amazing on *most* trips, but I think it's important to remember that at the end of the day, we're still human.
