Sugar is also poison. It is put in everything due to its addictive properties. It is also responsible for most chronic diseases and illnesses that plague our citizens. The greatest scam of the last 100 years.

Well said. Im a local spearfisherman here and that brown water is brutal. When they close the locks and dont discharge for a while ive seen the river be incredibly clear and pure. I cant imagine what it was like before my time.

Addict people to suger. Produce a med that helps lose weight. Get money on the way in and out. Please people support your local small farmer. They have better tasting, higher nutrient dense foods, and are true stewards of the land and water. Look up permaculture farms, they are making deserts bloom again.

This country always doing something WRONG towards supplies and things what we need to survive on it's ALWAYS something WRONG with something no matter what it is. It's so sad to say how our country and government let this type of nonsense go on around them and us as citizens having to depend on our water to live and survive on...!!! This country and governmen SUCKS!!! How they treat, and do us citizens of a supposedly most powerful nation! So, does that mean us citizens get treated like crap having to deal with that water that can't be drinked nor would I bath in it as well. That's WRONG AS TWO LEFT SHOES...

Cut sugar production and the introduction of sugar into foods....improve the health of obese Americans. And save Everglades water flow southward also.
@FamilyManMoving6 ай бұрын
The cost of coastal real estate exceeds the value of the sugar industry. Thousands of coastal millionaires were damaged by them last year, and the tourism industry (bigger than sugar by far) took a sizable hit. Gulf residents last year hit a tipping point - local papers up and down the west coast covered all the Red Tide, which we now know feeds on bacteria from these discharges. It went all the way to Tampa Bay - which also had a different kind of discharge also release that made things even worse. People with multi-million dollar properties had to leave their coastal homes for weeks because they could not breathe. Tourism was impacted. Manatee County is far north of the Sanibel discharge site and brings in about $2B a year in tourism revenue...even they took a hit. Point is, the people now know what is happening. And who is at fault. Everyone expects this year's discharges will cause serious problems again. This time, we all know who to blame, and who to call. The sugar industry is not going to win this one. They just don't have the juice anymore.

If you want the water to flow like it did 100 years ago stop putting bandaids on the problem! Digging more to fix digging from the past is not the answer. If you want to "fix" not only the Everglades but all of Florida! You will have to make the state like it was 100 years ago period! Anything else is man's idea at fixing the problems that man created trying to fix what was perfect in the beginning until man changed it! You can't "dig" more and FIX this problem.
@essiebessie6614 ай бұрын
That’s like calling for a Deus ex Machina to fix it all. Try working towards a resolution that is actually achievable, and we MIGHT improve the situation.

In Big Sugar's official response to our petition, they claim they've "consistently supported the EAA Reservoir." But if you ask us, suing over the use of the reservoir doesn't seem very supportive. So, "consistently" might be a bit of a stretch... Check out our latest video to get caught up on their lawsuit and to see what's at stake.

Just fished a 2 day tournament on lake Okeechobee and the water was disgusting and there was dead fish all over the lake. Looks like lake Apopka before her restoration. So sad. Weve poisoned our water for green yards and sugar we assault her with herbicides and its wrong. It has to stop.

I got an outside question… I’m looking at these projects and am curious… we are allowing water to flow down the state (as was naturally done previously) and we are basically filtering the okachobee water through the everglades grash marsh… so my question is, is this going to be like a giant algae scrubber?
