That sucks so bad that the dang decals burnt out so badly. Do you always fire to a cone 016 for decals and lustre? I’ve always done cone 019. Maybe try that with the next load? Everything looks sooo pretty what a beautiful kiln load!! Just a little tip on using mother of pearl. If you want it to really have lots of variations in the colors when you apply the mop use your finger, with the glove of course and swirl it around until it gets just a tad bit tacky!! I don’t know why I’m just now seeing this. Can’t believe I missed it. Wow the pumpkin is gorgeous! The bowls are stunning!! Wow!!! When you use paper clay you need to be sure to really burnish the paper clay well for it to get it into the crack. I’ve not had it fail on me since I started doing this. You also need to be sure to bisque fire the piece first before glaze firing. I don’t know if the piece was already glazed when it broke but I hope that helps.

Omg girl I LOVE that pumpkin sooo much!!!! For mayco’s rose quartz I only apply 2 coats, but somewhat thick. Where it will pool I make sure not to add it too thick. It’s worked out well. I love your sweater mug! I love making them too!! I unloaded my kiln after 2 days of it cooling and just sitting in there and mine are “popping too”! Worst sound EVERRRR!! I like the handbuilt pumpkins better just becasue they have a little more to them. I make pinched pumpkins and love using them for glaze tests! For the black and orange mug if you have cosmic tea dust or mayco fools gold they look amazing over black gloss!! I always make my handles for 3 fingers and I make sure they don’t stick out any more than they have to because they get broken more easily and they also “take up too much room in the cabinet” is what everyone says! I’m sorry this “comment” is now a good size pamphlet, but, that’s awesome to know about the micro glazes. I just got some tests out of the kiln and I got amazing crystals at a hot cone 6!!
