heavenly! the best from the best period in Jazz history, 1950 -1960. Wynton Kelly is wonderful, and I can hear Blakey unmistakingly.

The Jazz Workshop in San Francisco was the first Jazz Club I ever frequented. 19yrs old in my sharkskin suit, praying like hell nobody asked me for an ID and sure enough, they let this young stud through the door. Then, like all good places back then, familiarity, getting to know people, etc. What a time that was, 1966 and driving my barely held together 54 Jaguar XK120SE roadster, living on dexadrine and high hopes. Man oh man, was life ever great back then. Oh yeah, it was. I had me some times, oh yes, I did.😎

Spettacolo. ❤ Terapia per le orecchie e per la mente. Oggi i nostri padiglioni auricolari sono sottoposti a qualsiasi tipo di bruttura. Poi arriva un album del genere....e.....magia per corpo e anima. Grazie Cannonball

Interesting to hear "Nardis" here. For two reasons: One, Miles Davis apparently wrote it, and it later became a regular feature in the Bill Evans set list, for his entire career. Two, as great a song as it is, you rarely if ever hear anyone play it live or cover it on studio albums. Bill Evans left us 44 years ago, and he was the only one I can think of that played it regularly, or even played it at all.

It's been said that although Miles Davis (who originally wrote the tune apparently with Cannonball in mind) wasn't totally happy with the results on this album, he did say that Bill Evans interpreted the tune the way he [Miles] wanted best. This, in turn, encouraged Bill to include Nardis (Ben Sidran's last name spelled backwards, BTW) in his trio sets, for the most part, for the rest of his life/career -- and it became Evans' set closer/showstopper more often than not.
