I spent hours and hours fishing from below the dam down to where the road takes off up into the prairie in July and August 1977. Essentially it is where I learned about and how to fly fish. Those whitefish look pretty good sized. I understand they eat well, especially smoked. Never tried it myself. Did fish for them during colder times like you using nymphs with chill results.

Thanks for sharing @craighoover1495! You have been fishing the South Fork for a long time and I’m sure are very experienced! We’ve had our fair share of good days (and challenging) days on the SF, but we stay at it!

Just getting a couple hook ups makes it worth it 🤙🏻 I probably land 1 out of every 4 hook ups 😂. Finicky buggers are really good at shaking the hook out of their mouth. I’ve got about half a dozen landed this year off the beach on the fly. I’m from North Vancouver island and it’s been a great year so far for coho. My favourite fly for Coho is the California niel/coho bugger. All colours are good but chartreuse or pink are my favourite.

Thanks for sharing your experience, as well as some tips and flies to use! We appreciate them a lot. Any advice on how you’ve successfully managed to hook and land?

@@Haunted_ByWaters get a good cast out in front of a school, strip really fast. Presentation is a lot more important than the fly you’re using. I fish from beaches so the schools are in no deeper than chest deep water. Been slaying this season .

For small flies , they don't work. Don't cut close to the fly eye, leaving the knot , on the fly.

Just found your channel. Cool quick clips with plenty of useful information. Without blowing it up you guys were at Lake BS. Trophies in there for sure. Have you fished the northern lake (MV)?
@kellenspicer58445 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes, good eye. Spot on. I have only fished MV once. We caught 7 or 8 fish. Beautiful lake. Good, healthy sized fish. Much more recreated, though, and outboard motors are allowed.

You do not need forceps. We tale hooks out sharks mouths wothout them or pliers why need it for a tiny fish with teeth that cant hurt you
@kellenspicer58446 ай бұрын
Yes, you can remove a hook with your hands. However, forceps allow for gentle hook/fly removal from the fish’s mouth without needing to handle the fish. Remember to wet your hands before handling a trout as to not pull off their protective slime exterior that helps protect them from fungal and bacterial infections.
