I wish I could get the Q Snaps to stay together, Ive tried them 2 times now and it just falls apart. I got the 11x11 to stay together, but then added the 17" pair and disaster again. The 1st 11x17 was all wonky and wouldnt lay flat. Ive rearranged those little spacer things like musical chairs too and its just awful. Im so disheartened.

Hi Teresa. Grid with a thin fishing line. The floss won't get sewn in, and it's easy to take out. Loving the jumpers. They are lovely. This is a hobby, not a job. Stitch what makes you happy. Please don't think that you have to do x,y,z, just to make us happy. We all love to watch whatever you do. Do you know that you are the one who showed me how to stitch a full coverage? You were so patient and gave such great information. You do great, informative tutorials. I always look forward to seeing all of your videos. 😊

Hi Teresa, love your finish! As for the duck - I grid my fabrics in cases like this with a chalk pen (mine is from Bohin, but I think there are others too). The chalk disappears by itself when you stitch so there is no need to remove it. In fact it usually disappears so fast on me that I never grid more than 20 to 30 stitches down…

You're right. As long as it matches, you've made it unique to you. Colours aren't set in stone. You can switch them out. I did for the vivster quake flag sampler. I switched out the colours 😀 The colours in your jumper look great 🥰 I'm back in the UK for the foreseeable. Having major issues with my visa. Well it wouldn't be bloody easy would it 🙄. For the duck, I know it's painstakingly slow, but can you do it pattern keeper square by square. That may help with keeping you where you are supposed to be. I am rubbish at gridding. Plus your holes are so tiny on that fabric, it will be easy to miss one or two Xx

@TeresaLittleStitcher Hey lovely! So.....when I entered the states in 2016, Customs and Border Protection issued an I-94 (which is an online doc showing you how long you can be in the states for) however they did not update it when I left, so when the consulate officer looked at my travel history, it showed 2016 arrived, then 2022 arrived, do he couldn't confirm I didn't overstay. I did explain to him that I would NEVER have been readmitted if I had overstayed, and USCIS would certainly NOT have granted me my change of status because they are really hot on that, which he agreed, but boxes have to be ticked I guess. Anyway. I have to email them proof that I did infact leave the US which I did with payslips, bank statements showing transactions before I left the UK, then no transactions whilst there, then transactions after, facebook check ins, and conformation from the CBP that I contacted them to respectfully update my I-94 information. Then my account gets unlocked after 2 working days and I can courier my passport to them to have the visa issued, but I'm now not going to make my flight. As irony would have it, I didn't bring any stitching with me, thinking that I would be so busy with friends, but now I have to hang around until my passport has been sent to the US consulate. Such a palaver! Anyway, hopefully, it will get sorted soon as I need to get back as there has been a major issue with the barn concrete and they've had to rip it all out. Something about the stamp being wrong 🥴 yeah life it pretty good right now. NOT! 🤣 Thanks for the wip update. Your videos bring me some normality in my life 🥰🥰 xx

Your chatelaine is gorgeous. Stitch what you want when you want so you can relax and enjoy the process. Best of luck in Blackpool. What type of ballroom dance do you do? Hi Teresa, I have gridded my fabric after starting a project using both a Frixion pen and heat did take mine off, and Easy Count Guideline Red. The Easy Count Guideline is a nylon tread where your needle won't poke through and is easy to pull out. I would gridded to make it easier and it is what you are use too. I had to stop the video so I could say this, so now back to your video. Happy Stitching

Hi Theresa, you can get sort of a grid by poking the crossings of squares with a thick needle in the area you're stitching. You could use a wool needle.

A new subscriber here. My suggestion is: focus on the Evening in the Park, show your Xmas jumpers progress, because that is your commute stitch, you said? Then show previous finishes, stash / haul, air the wips without progress and just chat with us. Also, what decision did you make re gridding your full coverage project? You seem to have lots to talk about. Don’t worry about us. I don’t think we’ll be bored.

What is the stitch count on your duck? Personally I don't think you need to grid. I just learned how to do full coverage stitching - from you - the tutorials you posted 4 years ago! And it is magical! Clear instructions, I didn't even notice the grid really, just the chart you were marking on. I almost want to clap when I finish each 10x10 block. I have a piece 113x153 on 40 ct Newcastle with 37 colors that I started in the middle top - a massive sail in neutral colors almost killed me hence the search for a better way. From the middle, I worked to the right in 10x10 blocks parking the thread to the next 10x10 block and fully finished those blocks, then I worked the same to the left and evened out the piece all the way across with no threads dangling. Once I evened it out it felt like a new start and I started on the left working down in 10x10 blocks and parking threads to the block below, after vertical row is completed I will move across to the right in vertical rows. I noted RachelMorton comments below - I would love to learn more as working in this manner is useful on charts that are not full coverage. Also, some dyed linens do not bleed - you could do a test. By the way - I love Mary Ann's pillow - love to her.

Hi Teresa just wanted to put my two cents in regarding your chatelaine dilemma. I find I can't work on my chatelaine when I'm tired too. It takes a lot of focus for me so I tend to work on my chatelaine mostly on the weekends when I don't have work. The plus side is that my weekend stitching is usually the longer stitching sessions so I do make decent progress. The down side is my other wips suffer a little as they now only get minimal time during the weekdays after work. I also find I get burned out quickly since a chatelaine is so repetitive and this helps with that. Even If you don't finish this year I think you're on track for a finish early next year, good luck!

I was told to use fishing nylon to grid as your needle shouldn’t pierce it so easier to pull out. I’ve also seen someone just grid with thread for a 5-10 spread around all the edges. So you still have to follow it across the to where you are stitching but really easy to get out!

Hi Teresa, nice video. For gridding I would recommend you do the grinding with a Water & Air soluble pen, I have used it no problem, you only do one or 2 squares at the time because it is gone really quick.

I've never gridded my full coverage pieces, so I'm maybe not the best person to give advice :). I do a combination of cross-country & parking: I tend to work a thread in until the counting is far enough away that I'm not positive of my counting so I park it there to wait for more threads to make their way into that area of the pattern to confirm if it was/wasn't counted correctly. I find this approach will typically show me my errors before they're stitched in (when I go to park/stitch another thread and find something already there, I can re-check both to see which needs to be corrected). Just like Jessie-Marie says "your board, your rules" for WIPGO, the same applies to your stitching. If you want to focus on Evening in the Park (and thus have progress on only 2 projects) - do it. If you want more variety - do that. Either way, we'll be excited to see your progress & listen to you. This is a hobby - it shouldn't be stressful for you!

I always grid my fabric, not just full coverage but anything bigger than say 50 by 50. I hate hate hate unpicking, and don't really care that some people think using the guide lines is a crutch. Plus, I like to jump around and stitch different areas and motifs before I finish an area completely. This helps me stay interested in the project. One youtuber I found helpful when I first started gridding is Romantic Tangle. Her method is much faster. It's hard to explain without showing, but basically you stitch a thread of Sulky sliver thru the entire piece in one direction, count over for what size grid you want (some people do 20 not 10) and do the same thing, on and on making a grid. As you stitch you just weave your needle in an out of the fabric every so many holes, not counting exactly how many holes you are skipping but (obviously) staying in line. the end result is an accurate grid done in about have the time of other methods, with the only time you are actually counting is when you start a thread and when you decide where you are stopping for the size of your piece. Other methods requires very precise counting of where you bring your needle up and where your bring it down, creating exact 10 by 10 squares with your gridding thread. I have tried both ways but found all I need is the grid lines accurately spaced. I hope I haven't completely confused you. Check her video out, it makes sense and it is so much faster!

Hi Teresa! I would grid that full coverage piece with the thread you mentioned. I never park, so I don’t know which would be better. I just do like you were saying. Pick a color and go with it until the thread runs out then pick the color next to it and do the same. It keeps my counting more accurate. Good luck whatever you choose to do, it’s looking beautiful!

Hello Teresa, great video as always! With regards to the Fancy Duck I would probably grid one page at a time so that I wouldn't feel I was wasting precious, stitching time but still have some reference points. As far as your gorgeous Chatelaine is concerned, why not make it the focus project of one day every week - you pick which one... Anyway, noone says you HAVE to finish it this year - you just need to work towards the end 😉 Good luck with your stitching and your dancing!
