American censorship is weird. Here's the rundown... F-word: Too hot for TV, only on special occasions can you get away with it. Sh!t - Profane for such a long time on TV, even though 60s, 70s and 80s PG rated films used it. Now however, it's used in 13+ shows commonly, but barely in TV-PG shows. ß*t¢h - Even though I consider it as strong as the S-word, it's more acceptable for some reason. Crap: OK, even in some kids shows. Piss: Ok, but pushing it for kids shows. Damn: OK, but Goddamn wasn't ok for the longest time for some odd reason. Hell - Accepted. Bastard - Acceptable. Ass - Accepted/ *$$h0l3 - only in 13+ rated shows and over is it acceptable. P*$$y: Mostly accepted when calling someone the word, but rarely accepted when referring to a woman's private area. Dick: Accepted, even when talking about someone's own wang or talking about oral on it. C0ck - Kind of acceptable in some cases. C U N(ext) T(uesday): barely acceptable. Almost every slur is acceptable for some reason to some extent. Whether it be racist, sexist or flat out offensive. 90% of networks have to censor f*ck for some odd reason, even late, like about 9PM-1AM. Also, what's funny is that saying stuff like "To Hell With You", "Damn You" or "Goddamn You" is more Acceptable over here on TV than telling someone to go comment copulation on themself, or at least with the F-word.
